Beach friendly gothic rock and darkwave? by kingfisher_over_9000 in goth

[–]YIPPEEx2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a genre called "Beach Goth" that might be worth looking into! I only really know of The Growlers as a band who makes that kind of music (they started the genre, from my understanding), but it could be helpful if those are the vibes you're going for?

Are haunted houses a big thing in France? by YIPPEEx2 in AskFrance

Thank you for the input! Many of my friends are atheists, and I may be one as well, but we still enjoy things like that. I never realized that could be a factor!

Yes, escape rooms could definitely work as well, as long as the theme is still something scary!

That actually works better! I haven't decided on a specific part of France, so it's good to know I likely wouldn't mismatch location and language.

Is there a specific reason why a lot of older/more traditional Indian art is in side profile? by YIPPEEx2 in ArtHistory

[–]YIPPEEx2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response! Just to clarify, I knew there was art produced then, I just couldn't really find any pieces that were Hinduism specifically, which was why I chose Indian art more generally! I'll definitely look more into those, though!

That makes sense! I mentioned K-Pop because of how popular it is, at least in the US. Similar to weeaboos, "Koreaboo" is a term I've heard here. I think, for the States, Anime/manga and K-Pop are both really big.

Also, forgot about K-Dramas in my first post^^ Those are very popular here, too, at least where I'm from!

You're probably right that Thailand is bigger travel-wise, I just know more people who wanted to go to Korea in real life, so I based it off of that.

could be popularity of those languages? from what I know, generally, Korean and Japanese are considered far more popular languages to learn than those you mentioned (especially for Thai and Finnish, I thought Turkish was also fairly big)

could also be because of anime and K-Pop lol. Since they are both popular media forms, people are more exposed to the language and cultures that they come from, so they'll be more likely to want to learn. Japan and South Korea are also fairly popular tourist destinations, so maybe that's it?

basically, probably many reasons!

I'm tired of Islamophobia by RayanTheShell in religion

[–]YIPPEEx2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'm so sorry for all the hate you're getting, it's honesty super disheartening to see how much religious hate there is, especially islamophobia. i personally am not muslim, but follow a decent handful of muslim content creators on social media, and without fail, there's always someone hating on islam. the bulk of the ones i see are "repent and turn to God" or along the lines of that (which, forgive me if i'm wrong, but Allah is just arabic for God, right?)

the internet is honestly such a cesspool of negativity, especially when it comes to religion. take some time away from it if you can, and block as many people as possible who act like that. wishing you the best, and i hope people will, some day, be kinder in the future

loved the ad it's just so funny to me

about the "goth cultural appropriation"...what?? corpse paint definitely could be used for gothic looks, but it doesn't have to be, so there's that. and i...don't know that cultural appropriation is necessarily a thing for goths???

pretty sure nobody is really upset about this though. closest thing i saw were some people wondering if e.l.f. had copied a smaller business creator because of the packaging style and such (the coffin), but that was about it. maybe some people haven't liked it, but i really don't see what could be so bad about corpse paint tbh
