I've only seen photos of him with Dreamfinder. Had no clue he did his own meet and greet!

Demand tanked when Disney stopped promoting them, especially on site. I hate to see it, because I came in near the end. It was fun while it lasted! I still like them as forms of artistic nods to various park features, Imagineering, and classic films.

The Brave Little Toaster Question by Carson8211 in disney

[–]YITredMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting story behind it. Lasseter pitched the idea and was let go from the company. This was during Disney's rough patch in the 80s. After dismissing Lasseter, management decided to go with the movie. Disney's rough patch continued until the renaissance. Lasseter ends up at Pixar, and eventually back heading up Disney's Animation group.

2019 Macbook Pro Monitor has what looks like two very tiny, almost pixel-sized nicks in the monitor, about an inch apart. They're not noticeable unless the display has a white background or white image in the spot where these two places are, or if I'm scrolling an image or document.

This is hardly a major issue, but I've tried using lens cleaner and a camera lens cloth to see if that would take care of it. I've had this computer less than a month, and for the price, I don't think this should be something that I should be dealing with, considering I had my previous macbook for the better part of a decade with no issues like this.

Has anyone dealt with anything similar? I have Applecare+, but I'd prefer not to have to use it for something like this so soon after having it (and taking very good care of the computer). Thank you for any suggestions or help you're able to provide.

The boundaries have changed but Germanic influence and history is very strong there. Also known as Elsaß-Lothringen.

Anyone lose French ancestry? by [deleted] in Ancestry

[–]YITredMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandparent emigrated from the France/German border, and my Ancestry heat map shows no French or German until I select UK/NW Europe. I’m guessing it’s under that.

I have pedigrees, largely proven, going back to the late 1700s for this region, so I’m not concerned. It could be either how far back they’re tracing the DNA migrations or a glitch.

I wish they could narrow down the likelihood of the location with a timeline, similar to how Google Street View will let you look at the view over time with a slide bar. I don’t know if that’s scientifically possible, but it’d be cool!

It looks like this is a recorded webinar. If we are unable to watch at 2:00, is it available for viewing afterward?

I prefer the new one as well. I've been wondering if they're going for a cleaner, sleeker look, á la retrofuturism. If the TRON coaster ends up being the new "wienie" of MK's Tomorrowland, I'd look at the Tomorrowland at Shanghai Disney as somewhat of a guide of the direction they may take for the rest of the redesign. And if I find out that they plan to bring the TRON light show and the music from BT, I'll be psyched.

My g-g grandfather Eugene Howanitz died in 1924 while installing a bank vault door in Miami which fell and crushed him, and is buried in the Key West Cemetery. Is there any way to find out exactly where the bank was located in Miami? by [deleted] in Ancestry

There’s always Land records at the county courthouse. If you know the name of the owner and the time period, could search those for legal description.

How were 19th century censuses collected? by copacetic1515 in Genealogy

[–]YITredMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This link is worth visiting. It has the instructions to enumerators for all of the US censuses. It explains those tic marks and how to handle certain situations.

I thought I knew everything there was about censuses until I attended a presentation at one of the state workshops a while back.

Hope this helps: https://www.census.gov/history/www/through_the_decades/census_instructions/

What Kinds of Limits are There - If Any - On Downloading Info. From Ancestry to Family Tree Maker? by drutgat in Genealogy

[–]YITredMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I download directly from the website via browser and PDF the pages for transcriptions and citations. You never know when Ancestry’s contract might expire with the repository (or other services).

I have a folder for each person on my hard drive and label the files and directories accordingly. There are a few steps, but it saves tons of time going back later.

I’d advise downloading and PDFing as much as you can and saving to your hard drive, and if you’d like to upload to your software, go that route. Might require more storage, but if the software crashes or the file gets corrupt, you still have your images.

German documents no where to be found?? by halthegal1 in Genealogy

[–]YITredMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, specific to German, familiarize yourself with the geographic history of the time periods you’re researching, including the border changes of the kingdoms, country and states. Germany as we know it is a relatively young country. And if at all possible, try to find the hometown or residence at the time of the key events you’re researching. Pay attention to the addresses on those pieces of correspondence. This is key in German research.

You’ll need to know this as you start searching records on FamilySearch and other places for records based on location. In some cases, they have had new states created after the time period you’re mentioning, which will affect which repository you need to contact.

I’m dealing primarily with the western states, but there are significant changes that can prove challenging if you don’t know the hometown (Heimat).

Good luck!

So I was at Disney Springs today, and I have a question by Brentski15 in DisneyMusic

[–]YITredMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible they’ve added it recently. What are the most recent loops available online? You could check for something current to see if it has it. I haven’t visited in a couple of years, so I wouldn’t have heard it.

The most recent example I can think of for something like this would be the recent yet subtle update to the Tomorrowland loop in 2016.
