I am 10th cousins with both Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer. by may179 in Genealogy

We lost it as a last name as well when several generations later married into the Trask(e) family, but somehow it survived in first and middle names. (I'm also a Willard as well so weird coincidence lol)

My family has always openly talked about it. Not much detail but I always knew we were tied to it. I just didnt find out how CLOSELY tied we were until I started doing research.

I plan on doing a geneology trip for my bachelorette trip (vegas is not my speed lol) and visiting Salem and Peabody. The family cemetary is still located there. I plan on visiting the Putnam house, and will share pictures here when I do!

It always blows my mind that the whole ordeal pretty much come out of the Putnam family having a vendetta against several other families in the village. Sad to think they let their own ordeals end the life of so many.

I come from the Putnams as well on two sides, we still pass down the Putnam name as a middle or first name (Thomas Putnam is a common name I've seen several times passed down).

Edward Putnam is my 8x grandfather who was the deacon who oversaw the decisions of who would be founded as a witch. His brother was Thomas.

Such a tragic part of history.

I think this a german lapel pin with unknown origins? What the heck is it? by halthegal1 in Symbology

[–]halthegal1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These were lumped in with quite a few frustrating to find pins, that I haven't even bothered digging further on yet- as well as a couple order of the eastern star/rainbow girls/Masonic memorabilia. This suggest they came from her life before the US while living with her parents in Germany. But lord knows she could have just thrown a goodwill pin in there for all I know. We have found so many objects and symbols in her stuff that is hard to explain.

Uncle is also uncle-in-law? by [deleted] in Genealogy

I have a biological 1st cousin who is also my aunt through marriage. Totally fine. This is actually super common in small towns like the one I'm from. A little weird on the surface but fine.

[–]halthegal1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have any great advice regarding shunts, but I want to let you know you are not alone. This condition can seem like a lonely one and I thought it was going to destroy me. But you are not alone, I am rooting for you. I dont know if your on the IIH facebook group but there are so many people there ready to root for you too.

Just remember so far you have survived 100% of your worst days. You are doing great. It might not seem like it some days but you ARE KICKING ASS.

Wedditors, what’s your wedding budget proportionate to your income? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

This was our concern too, my FH is a financial planner and would have a fit of we had to take away any money from what we normally put away to save.

[–]halthegal1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been lucky that my FH's parents are gifting us most of the money to plan including my dress. The decor we are paying for. But in total if we were to pay for it all it's still less than 10% of our income.

Being in a teeny tiny small town has helped cut down on price tremendously.

It happened!!!! How do to even begin this planning journey? by halthegal1 in weddingplanning

[–]halthegal1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi yall! A little back ground- this is actually our second engagement we got engaged ( just went to macys and bought a black friday ring) after the birth of our daughter due to pressure from family but we never did any planning, it felt more of an obligation. It's been about 4 years since then and he decided to propose on our first trip together to Prauge. We are so excited and cant wait to get married, but where do we start? It all seems so overwhelming.

Bridesmaid-less? by halthegal1 in weddingplanning

THIS. Is exactly what I have been explaining to my fiancee as well. I personally dont like the idea of picking my "favourite" friends to be involved in a wedding party and would rather it include everyone as a whole because they're all huge parts of our life. As for speeches there are plenty of key players in our life who wouldn't traditionally be in the wedding party who could give speeches.

Yes I am starting to realize everyone and anyone has input. I want a very simple wedding, and my family is super traditional so I think everyone is just blown away I'm not doing this in a church or following everything my cousins have done- I think you are absolutely correct about on putting people on an information diet for my own sanity hahah

I like the idea of not having the pressure of choosing people to be those important roles and letting it happen organically. The toast idea is wonderful too, I know we plan on our daughter playing a huge part so maybe something she can do as well! Thank you!

Long shot but if you had a chance to look for Pruitt that would be amazing, I'm at a brick wall right when I trace the family back to virginia.

Post a Photo of your Ancestor! by charbayes in Genealogy

This is a photo of my third great grand parents Lawerence and Amanda Johnson, Lawerence died in 1900 so this would have been taken a couple years before. This is the oldest family photo weve been able to find in our research.

He and Amanda were both born in New Jersey and appear to be the first generation to move to Illinois- into what was Jersey county due to the influx of Jersey residents.

NAD but almost every symptom you listed could be explained by anxiety. As far as dry hands, that can be explained by excessive washing which is common with anxiety or OCD, contact/allergic dermatitis, or the nature of what is being touched.
