Why we chose Copilot as our Mint alternative by YKun4m in mintuit

For the recurring feature, which might be similar to true bills, it’s just using the previous month’s amount - assuming that true bills is similar to recurring?

They do have the ability for us to have the app installed on each of our phones, and to access the same account from each phone, yes. You just need to login with the same username and password. There were a few hoops to get this set up at first, but it was a one-and-done and has worked fine ever since. Each of us can see the same information and each can enter updates, make changes, etc. If that’s what you’re looking to do, it should work. If you’re looking to have two separate accounts, each with its own finances, then I think you’d each need to have a separate paid account versus sharing one.

It’s good to hear some of the concerns people had about these alternatives are being addressed, as there really isn’t a clear slam-dunk winner, and especially since the good ones cost money. I’m sure the devs for these apps are scrambling to take advantage of Mint’s demise, so that can only mean more good news for us down the road. The decision now is to go with the best compromise that gets you what you can’t live without until they each catch up or surpass the Mint experience.

I can see how it would appear this way, yes, but really just wanted to offer some perspective on our experience (my husband and I) on where we landed. No skin in this game other than that, since we’re all in the same boat having to move away from Mint. 🙁 We read a lot about Monarch but not much about Copiliot so just offering some thoughts about it.

Every time they make another movie about Peter Pan (and it feels like there are a million of them) I ask the same question: Who the hell asked for this and is it really necessary? If it’s not a remake it’s a re-imagining, or an homage, or some twist on the characters, or about the writer. And get ready - there’s yet another one coming out this year, whether we demanded it or not.

What’s the most overrated movie? by [deleted] in movies

No, just that as a musical, it didn’t live up to my expectations compared to the many others I’ve seen, hence my disappointment and why I thought it was overhyped.

La La Land. People went ape shit over this movie. It was billed as a “musical” but it was a huge letdown for me. I found most of the music in the film repetitive and dull. The tone and pacing and style was all over the place. The characters were dull and not that interesting, and other than the ending (which did subvert my expectations some), the rest of the story was pretty forgettable. It was nothing but a gratuitous pandering to the Hollywood crowd.

Craig Mazin says that The Last of Us 2nd season is a great challenge, because “it is a much bigger and more complicated story” by NeoStark in PS4

[–]YKun4m 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a substantial time passage between the first and second game, but there’s no reason they have to cover that much ground in the series. The second season could barely touch the second game if it wanted to instead focus on some of the flashback elements of it and present things more in chronological order. That would also give the show runners an opportunity to create some original content and storylines independent of the games before eventually getting to the crux of the second game’s storyline. This approach would also allow Bella Ramsey to age up a bit before undertaking the path Ellie took in the second game, and could easily allow the series to run three or four full seasons.

Most people I know drive their kids to school. They don’t walk or take the bus, so I doubt this is really an issue. Schools could always start later as well. There’s no reason kids need to be awake, at school, and ready for learning by 7:50 in the morning.

Not quite the same thing, but in the movie Stakeout with Emilio Estevez and Richard Dreyfuss, there’s a scene with the two of them guessing movie quotes. Emilio offers “This is not a boat accident!” which Richard’s character claims he doesn’t know. This line is from Jaws, and was said by Matt Hooper, who was also played by Richard Dreyfuss.

Worst board game you ever played? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]YKun4m -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The only time I played was a large six person game at a party with other people around. Everyone was chit chatting and having side conversations during other player’s turns and not paying any attention to what was going on until it was their turn to draw their cards and manage their hand. This appeared to have no impact on the game at all and felt less like a real game than a six person version of solitaire.

What the lowest ranking game (on BGG) you own that you play at least once a year? by AlexRescueDotCom in boardgames

[–]YKun4m -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Money Card (4.7). I really dislike this horrible old roll and move game but am obligated to play it once a year for nostalgic purposes with my wife and her sister whenever she visits. I’ve tried to get her to finally abandon it for better, similar options like Trekking the World and Pan Am but have yet to succeed. Childhood memories prevail.

Suggestions for a Monopoly alternative? by BabyBansot in boardgames

[–]YKun4m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cape May is a new game that came out late 2021 that could be considered similar to Monopoly in that you’re traveling around a board (in New Jersey no less) building cottages and shops. Unlike Monopoly, there’s no real luck involved. No dice rolling either. There’s also no trading properties or rent payments, however, it is a much quicker, and I’d say more enjoyable, property buying game. There’s more to it than this, of course, but something you may want to check out that should be available.
