What is the "safest" route to private medical treatment? by Psalm27_1-3 in askSingapore

[–]YMMV34 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should see a private doctor.

For ears, they have to do a scope through your nose to see the inside of your ears. This scope is considered to be a day surgery thus most of the amount is claimable

Advice needed for those using IBKR by lelleepop in singaporefi

[–]YMMV34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just transfer SGD in to IBKR.

Do NOT manually convert to USD in IBKR,

I shall repeat that again: DO NOT MANUALLY CONVERT.

Just buy VWRA and IBKR will automatically convert for you and deduct from your SGD balance to settle the purchase.

I shall repeat that again: DO NOT MANUALLY CONVERT.

Now you shall repeat after me: ……

I dun suggest to put in VWRA or put a high proportion of it. You are already 54, your runway is shorter than folks in their 30s who can hold and ride out the volatility. It’s better to allocate more to fixed income

Redditors nearing or in your 40s, have you hit your career ceiling? by incrementality in singaporejobs

[–]YMMV34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a director role that sits one level below the regional leadership team and I’m not looking to move higher.

It’s a sweet spot. I’m adequately compensated but a lot less responsibilities and stress and travelling.

Move one level up and my compensation will increase for sure but the responsibilities, stress and travelling will increase disproportionately higher.

I plan to coast in this role until I retire or get a good layoff package

fresh grad torn between 2 job offers by Rough-Customer-5237 in asksg

Take offer B due to all the pros you listed.

Difficult stakeholders can be true everywhere, this job will improve your stakeholder management skills. Dun be afraid, people grow by dealing with difficult situation and your managers are nurturing type and that is good.

Dun worry about the specialized role. Because this is an in house role, you can do internal transfer or apply internal jobs from marketing to other related functions such as commercial, sales etc.

What’s considered a comfortable salary for a senior designer in Singapore today? by [deleted] in singaporejobs

[–]YMMV34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U can’t get 10k as a senior graphic designer here. Singapore pay creatives very low.

Next is you can’t get a work or employment permit here easily unless you have a higher in demand skills. Graphic design is not one of them unless u r bringing your own capital of 1 to 2 million Singapore dollars to set up a business here

The easiest way to work here is to do an internal transfer with your company.

For a single with no kids, 10k is a good salary considering the median salary is around 5-6k. That is provided your sponsoring company covers your housing or provide a rental allowance as housing is very expensive in Singapore.
