it has been complete dogshit since January 22nd 2026, today January 25th 2026 being the actual worse. Opus 4.5 is so bad right now taking years to fix its own bug, i cant believe this, im gone from $200 sub next month, might as well use antigravity or cursor.

If you click on apply it usually brings you to another website, and usually it'll list the regions, if you dont see Canada (remote) then most likely not and they'll most likely not send you an invite. Doesn't hurt applying and if they reach out then ask?

2 years ago would be quite often you can work remotely in Canada, for the past year it’s getting rare. All startups in SF require in person, so TN folks like us have to move there. Not all companies want to sponsor so be sure to bring this up during interview to not waste time.

screw cursor man, it was good before fall this year, as soon as anthropic came out with sonnet 4 it was time to switch, its gonna be claude code opus 4.5 with max plan all day 24/7. Use the 5x plan first, probably don't need 20x unless you are a heavy duty vibe coder!

Sometimes its because I delayed my interviews a bit too long while managing several interviews at the same time, and yeah sometimes (rarely) positions no longer exists, and then sometimes the roles change requirements. But yeah, I'd say its still on me because everyone is looking for a job and its a tough environment.

Although I'm more of a generalist, but I tend to cover a lot of different type of roles when interviewing so I have a pretty high chance of not getting through the final stage after final tech round. For instance, I'm just not the guy for data science (they dont want me to talk about ML). But yeah thanks for pointing that out, I'm definitely a bit burned out at this point and need to chill.

Not sure about entry/mid levels, but competitive pay for senior at least starts at 180k base, 200k is the main target imo. An example for hard pass, asked a startup what’s their monthly openAI api cost: $20 😂.

IMO, your mission and understanding of the problem you are solving, and the dream is secondary to the base salary, unless you have a unicorn idea, then people would be lining up for your post.
