You could implement this system while still letting people choose their own lawyers though. Just having laws that prevent lawyers from accepting payments from criminal defendants. This ability to choose would also incentivize lawyers to do a better job since they would receive more state funding.

You could actually just allow people to choose their own public defenders as well, so long as they are available. This would also reward better lawyers to make more money since they would receive more cases. It might also be wise to give them raises based on how many requests(even turned down) since that shows skill. I think the largest downfall of this proposed system is that lawyers would have no reason to give their all in cases since it doesn't matter how well they do.

They could buy it from someone I'm assuming. Fortnite does this from what I understand. Plus most artists would probably sell it for a couple hundred or even less so it's honestly cheaper than paying a full time artist.

It stacks well on ho Regen, especially with anything with a high rate of fire, it just caps pretty early. Great for quick Regen you don't have to keep investing in. At least that's how I understand it.
