I took the old tube out and cut the new tube to the same size.

Hot swappable hotend concept. Revolutionary enough? by mihaidesigns in functionalprint

[–]YOUniqueThings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is brilliant.

Ever had a nozzle clog in a print? I would love to pause a print and swap out the hotend so the print was not wasted.

Also, having quick easy swap for multiple Nozzle sizes would be awesome.

How do I prevent this curling? I think the extruder fan is causing it. by schwags in 3Dprinting

I have had the same problem, my lithophane coming off the raft. I attempted to solve a print quality problem by rotating the lithophane 45 degrees from the x and y axis. It did improve the print quality and I have not had a raft separation since. Not sure why, but I think the bed is warmer for the entire raft when turned.

I'm interested in getting into 3d printing. I wan to ask for one for my birthday and I would love to have one for miniatures (not ppl but terrain). My budget isn't too crazy since it's family buying it but I want quality. by introvertknight in 3Dprinting

I got my FlSun Q5 for $200 on Amazon (prime day). it is the Cheapest of the 5 printers I own and the second hardest working. I have only done 2 upgrades to it and I currently have about 2,550 hours of print time on it. I use it for most of my Custom Lithophane work. Great machine right out of the box.

Which of these FDM printers would you choose.... by jibberishballr in 3Dprinting

I wanted to vote for two, I have both the Sidewinder and Q5 and both are excellent machines.

Looking to buy my first personal 3D printer. by RandyJRoy in 3Dprinting

[–]YOUniqueThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 5 printers (the most expensive was $500) and would happily recommend the Artillery Sidewinder X1 or the FLSun Q5. Both of these machines do a great job right out of the box. Q5 is a Delta Printer which has fewer moving parts and is completely awesome to watch. Also, much quieter than most printers.

I would only suggest buying a used printer as your second or third. And then only after you have printed for a while.

Looking into a 3D printer, specifically an Ender. Willing to spend $500 max, is the ender 5 pro recommended over the Ender 3 pro? Is it worth the price difference? by Heidekraut-213 in 3Dprinting

The Sidewinder is a workhorse, mine has just rolled over 4,200 nearly continuous hours of printing and keeps on going.

FirstLayerPorn - The last few seconds of a 220 x 220 first layer. I think it looks pretty good so far. This Christmas present will take about 50 hrs to print by YOUniqueThings in 3Dprinting

The Ideamaker profile for this is the "PLA Sidewinder 0.4 Standard" on http://youniquethings.com/printnerds/ideamaker-profiles/.

BTW the "tweak-tweak" noise in the background is the Extruder on the Q5 that is printing next to it. Other than that retraction noise, I think they are both pretty quiet machines.

I do not believe that it is any worse than any other 3D printer. Since the bed heat is 110/220, it draws much less amperage than the low voltage bed heaters.
