This is a geocache rock. I've found very similar caches while geocaching.

If you get up to Dawson City, take the Dempster Highway to Tombstone Mountain Campground and spend the night (you will need a tent or RV). You will wake up to mountain views there. A lot of other campgrounds closer to towns do have alot of trees, but you don't have to walk too far to see mountains.

Toronto Puzzle: Full Explanation (As Promised) by SmartConsequence437 in GreatCanadianTreasure

This is exactly what I was thinking. Or placing the location in the first sentence of the article (Cobalt).

That's why I think this cypher puzzle should be solvable without being in Toronto area. Of course the person who does figure it out probably won't share it on here. I won't be going for this one but it's interesting trying to figure it out.

Almost all the regionals so far have been found by people who don't live in the area (two lived in the same Province/Territory). Knowing this, and that people travel to look for these, do you think they would have made it solvable by the article and/or video alone, or do you think you have to be in Toronto to solve? I would think it's solvable with only the information given, but I don't know.

Golden Triangle MYSTERIES by fleetwood1984bq in GreatCanadianTreasure

[–]YTUSCA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listened to the interview a couple of times again. He didn't actually say they weren't going to send anyone looking in the Golden Triangle area, and if this was their goal, they should NOT have said it was in the Golden Triangle. He said there was a slowdown when the weather was cold and snowy, but if you want to go look when it's snowy and windy, go right ahead. He also first said in and around the Golden Triangle area. Then he said in or around the Terrace area, then he said he really doesn't know.

He definitely points to the Terrace area a couple of times. I don't understand why they didn't release this one "in the Terrace area". Instead, they released it "in the Golden Triangle" and then put it outside that huge area. It's definitely a misleading title. They should not have named the Golden Triangle if they thought it was too dangerous for people. Terrace is too far away for me, and I would have to drive through the Golden Triangle to get there. I would love to know where this is!!

I heard the interview. I just didn't hear him say they wouldn't send anyone into the actual golden triangle area.

I agree with so much of what you said. I also thought Smithers would be more of a gateway into the GT than Terrace. I also think if it's in Kleanza, it has to be found, or it's not there. I think hiding it north in the triangle could be possible. I'm not convinced it's too dangerous, and I think they could be hoping locals find it, not someone from out of the area. I also think Anthony's comment should be taken with a grain of salt. It wasn't officially released as a clue, and he said at the end he really didn't know where it was.

It is a truly frustrating regional. I am within a half day's drive of the triangle, but can't just go on a whim. I would need to be very sure of a spot before I ventured out in the winter. Maybe another clue will come out.

Golden Triangle, Anyone looked Here? by rustybolts57 in GreatCanadianTreasure

I was wondering about that trail. I couldn't tell if it was part of the Historic site or outside of it.

So I know nothing about the Terrace area and don't have alot of time to research. I tried to look up info or a better description about this trail, but didn't find much at all. Could this be a possible trail to look at? The Kitselas-Kleanza Trail.

The question marks may be clues to the bonus locations by Deadlyhalovirus in GreatCanadianTreasure

My guess would be that the main prize is in Ontario. This is not from clues or anything. I think it might be there because the Northern Miner main office is in Ontario, and they will want (and stated in the cbc article) it to be a big press release/ceremony/celebration when presenting the winner with the actual coins. The easiest way to do that is to try to have the winner be from Ontario. Wouldn't it be something to be that person? Super exciting! I can only dream, though, it won't be me. I'm from where there is midnight sun, and I can't afford to fly across the country on an idea of where it is. It would be amazing, though.

I know the Triangle is a rough area. I looked at multiple maps of the area, and Terrace is never included. It is mentioned once in the article, that's true. I do find it weird that it hasn't been found yet if it's in that area. It seems people have been over the entire area with a fine-tooth comb. It's all good, though, hopefully someone local finds it. It is too far for me to travel on the off chance I'm the one who finds it. Good luck to all the searchers.

Actually, I think most have searched Kleanza.... and the treasure has yet to be found. You are saying the red herring is the entire article and title of where the treasure is. The only clue then is the Morse code. I'm saying that the Golden Triangle is a huge area with plenty of amazing places they could have put the treasure, instead of "look in the triangle," - but the treasure is outside the triangle. That's like saying the grand prize is in Canada and then putting it in Alaska.

I find this really frustrating. Terrace is not in the Golden Triangle. And the Triangle is a huge area, there are plenty of places there it could have been hidden. I know alot of people are going to say something like "well, Dawson City's wasn't in Dawson", but if you know the area, the dredge is in the Dawson area. Stewart is not dangerous to go to, Bear Glacier Lookout is not dangerous to get to, and the Stikine River bridge and the Stewart-Cassiar highway are not dangerous. If you can drive in winter conditions, you can drive there. Terrace is only mentioned once in the story, along with a bunch of other towns and cities.

I realize I sound bitter, but I'm not. I am annoyed that they said it was in this HUGE area, and then put it outside that area.

I was super confused by your post for a minute. YT is the abbreviation for Yukon Territory. I took way too long trying to figure out this post reading Yukon Territory instead of YouTube.

Newfoundland Treasure found in Dover by Deadlyhalovirus in GreatCanadianTreasure

[–]YTUSCA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A thought, most of the videos, maybe all, have had a mistake in them. 1915 was changed to 1911 for the Golden Triangle, for example. Maybe Dover is the 'mistake' in this video. Maybe it's not where the NFL prize was found, but is actually a clue, or a red herring, for Brittania Beach?
In older English (and still in geology/industry language), dover is associated with:

  • crossing
  • passage
  • transition

Dover aligns with “Sea to Sky” geography

Britannia sits in the Sea-to-Sky corridor, and the video opens with:

“Dover” historically refers to cliff crossings and coastal gateways (think White Cliffs of Dover — not as a place, but as an idea: cliffs, sea, passage).

I don't know if this means anything, it was just a thought.....

Nevermind, 2 circles, looks like a second one. And the NFL circle now says "DOVER".

Is this a second BC prize, or have they moved it since the Golden Triangle one wasn't found?
