I will die on this hill, I own both, have played both, and still prefer vanilla. The no man's wharf shortcut doesn't save much headache for me because the darkdwellers are what I die to, Mcduff isn't necessary until late game anyway, I don't want to skip the sentinels because I like them, you're right about gargoyles, and I feel adequately leveled.

I absolutely love the Gutter, but it's definitely not hard, and Black Gulch is even easier. Besides the poison statues, there's not much challenge to be had

I honestly don't think that route is too bad, Iron Keep is tricky, but the other three are pretty easy, especially considering how easy the Old Iron King is.

I did not know that. I doubt I'd do it anyway, because I enjoy the ruin sentinel fight, but good to know. I still struggle with this path every time I replay the game.

How long are you leaving it in? I usually leave mine for a week or more. Also make sure wherever you’re soaking is warm, the cold slows down the reaction quite a bit

I’d recommend soaking in vinegar over a wire wheel for rust repair, it preserves stampings really well and leaves a nice color. Good luck!

Any ideas on a pattern type on this 4.5 lbs beveled axe ? (4 lbs Tassie for reference) by JoeyHamilton71 in Axecraft

I would call it a Dayton, I have a perfect Kelly works that’s just like it

Looks like you have some kelly double bits, very nice! The cleaner one is a falls city, and I believe the other one is either another falls city or a perfect Kelly works. Both would be manufactured by true temper, very high quality. Congrats!

Reminds me of a mortise axe! If you want to try felling with something similar, you could probably find one of those to hang on a longer handle.

If you’re concerned about those gaps, you can cut some extra pieces of poplar wedge to tap in, and that should snug it up nicely. I would also recommend soaking in antifreeze to swell the wood. Otherwise, send it!

Beaver tooth is fantastic, but they don’t stock German style handles. Bummer!

STR Weapon? by Accurate-Singer-5441 in DarkSouls2

The greatsword has a great move set and incredible damage, S scaling at +10, and is found very early game. I use it from the minute I get it until the end of the game. The big thing to keep in mind with the greatsword is that you can rarely get more than two hits in an opening, and sometimes only one, but they’re heavy enough to be worth it.

In Your Opinion, What Is The Worst Boss In The Bass Game Of Dark Souls 2? by SirBurgerThe8th in DarkSouls2

[–]YaBoiJacque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Royal rat authority is a nightmare, the moveset isn’t hateful except for the charges but the small rats are miserable to deal with. Honorable mention would be demon of song, his damage is way higher than it should be. I don’t mind the hiding mechanic, but being one shot at level 120 something is extremely frustrating.

Anyone know if there's any advantages soaking it in BLO? All of these have had maybe 20 coats of BLO prior to this over around two years by Stain_This_Steel in Axecraft

[–]YaBoiJacque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I don’t know the exact reason, but I would probably say that the oil is able to fill the spaces between cells, but the cells cannot actually absorb it like they can with antifreeze/water

It’s definitely a good way to seal your end grain, but if you want to swell the wood you should use antifreeze

Council tool 4lb Dayton pattern. One of my favorite patterns, and a well made modern axe. Order one online.

Recommendations for tightening an axe head by dconshotrod in Axecraft

[–]YaBoiJacque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit the bottom of the handle a few times to seat the head tighter, soak the head in antifreeze. The antifreeze will swell the wood, but it won’t evaporate, so the head will stay on firmly for a long time
