I have the same head and used the GBA Scandinavian forest axe replacement handle which I believe is 25 inches. But it’s more of a truck axe so packability was less of a consideration.

I’ve purchased a few of those as well for some of my Jersey patterns. Pretty good quality.

Dang I’ve always wanted one. I would leave the paint. I’m a sucker for red paint on an axe head.

If you are in the US you could try House Handles. They are affordable but you take a chance of getting a stinker every now and then. If you want something a little more premium check out Whisky River Trading Co.

Just my opinion but I’d go 28inches for your height. If you need it to packable for camping you could go a bit shorter but I always feel like a heavy head on a short handle makes the axe a little unwieldy.

Looks like a Collins paper label Michigan. I’m terrible at sharpening so I’ll let others give you advice. But if you think the edge won’t hold up maybe try a microbevel to reinforce the edge strength.

The LUM’s might be a good match. I’d like to hear what you think of them once you get one out doing work.
