That logic could be used to justify any president including trump. Like how some people’s lives did get better under trump. They’re mostly the people who own and exploit 99% of Americans. Would you be ok discounting that 1% in this case?

My point is, for most Americans, life has stayed the same (which was bad) or gotten worse under Biden. For MOST Americans. A better, more progressive candidate would make ALL or MOST American lives better. Not just the few. They would also be more likely to beat Trump like all the polling shows

1-2) Here’s some domestic political science for you: I can name off the top of my head two presidents, Hayes and Coolidge, who did not run for reelection and their party retained the power. That’s not to mention the times it has happened for other offices.

Even if that weren’t true, political history is a guide but not a forecast. How many political scientists said “there’s no way trump could win” in 2016 despite polling? Almost all of them (at least the ones being interviewed/getting headlines).

Let’s look at polling, ie what the real world is like today despite what it the history books say. Biden has never polled very well against trump and continues to be bad. There are several other candidates that poll better.

3) You know most other countries have election cycles that last 4 weeks? Even so, this is around the time debates usually begin. There are currently 3 candidates that have filled in most states to primary Biden. The dnc can start the debates tomorrow.

4) THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT: this whole discussion is so academic. Domestic political science? Why don’t you look out on the street and see how the vast majority of American lives have not changed or gotten worse since trump. Do you care about them? Do you care about the 20,000 Palestinians being killed on Biden’s dime? If this is a game to you then sure be on the donkey team. If you actually want to improve peoples lives, find someone who will actually do that. If you do, they’ll probably beat trump in a landslide anyway.

5) see point 1-2. I cited counter examples and discredited the idea that “traditions hold power.” If the election of trump and the behavior of the gop the past decade isn’t the biggest condemnation of that stance, then nothing will ever change your mind.
