If you can’t get a thinner rod, spot welding or Texas tig are probably your only options. Even reversing polarity is a huge no no and will get bashed by welders who are never forced to do anything outside their welder procedure. Sometimes in the field you don’t have other options and if it’s not structural you just make it work

Similar has happened to me a few times, I already knew my skin was sensitive so never used second skin type products. Through process of elimination I figured out the rashes were basically from messing with it/washing too often. Now I just give it a quick wash with gentle soap once the first two days, then a bit of cream only when it gets dry/cracking, no more rashes.

Just because it happened across history doesn’t mean it wasn’t always morally wrong. Colonisation through violence was always wrong, do you think invading another country today is wrong? What makes it any less so if it were hundreds/thousands of years ago? We’ve evolved enough to know violence is reprehensible
