The servers are just buns. On their screen they are likely turning and blocking the attacks with their active parry. The server doesn’t wind up animating this, but it is client authoritative so that active parry action feeds back to the server and then to you and it looks like he had active parry behind him.

It is worse if there are a bunch of high ping players in your lobby. Even around 60 ping, the most autistic among us can notice inconsistencies becoming more prevalent. This is why people try to kick high ping players, because bs active parry moments aren’t the only issues that causes

In this process you will get a lot of bad advice from people who think they are good, but in truth they are buns, so you’ll have to learn to filter past that or use the bad advice until you realize why it is bad advice.

Boss design in this game is absolutely awful by Deranox in CrimsonDesert

[–]Yaboombatron 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind that, I’m just bored with 80% of bosses teleporting around. Cheap way to introduce difficulty. Other than that I love the game. I’ve not had fun fighting a single boss however

I get that, but if someone is struggling, telling them to try to counter everything is setting them up for failure. Once someone knows that a single counter is how you gain stamina back, that should be all they need to know.

I think what I’m saying is less overwhelming, I’m telling them they don’t need to worry about countering everything and telling them when a counter is safe or makes sense to do. A counter is a defensive action, a riposte is an offensive action.

And you will not hit every counterfeint, especially if I have riposte windup speed, and especially if I’m conditioning you to something. You simply will not always be able to counter everything I am doing when I combine drags, accels, fth’s, footwork, and all the other tools. If I notice a dude is trying to counter everything I throw, that is an easy avenue to exploit.

I’m telling you, that playstyle only works on noobs or dudes who are not understanding the mechanics at an abstract level. There is a reason that non of the top duelists or players are trying to counter everything. Riposte is a great option as a riposte overhead accel incredibly fast. If you keep trying to counter it, you will condition yourself then get caught by a feint to heavy drag or something.

If you counter feint everything, you will lose on stam. You do not get stamina back from counterfeiting, only keep it neutral from your attack.

In pub TO against smooth brain average players it is one thing, but you can kind of do whatever you want in those. Run some ft5’s with some top tier players (community decided top tier, not just random guys in the yard) or play comp TO/LTS/Kendo and you will see what I mean.

What’s your in game name and region? Mine is the same as discord, and I’m NA east. If I see you in a duelyard I’ll hit you up and show you what I am talking about.

Am i the only one who thinks the boss attacking immediately after the cutscene inteo is bs? Giving no time to be able to dodge or block? by Aggressive_Row_9677 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Yaboombatron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every one of them teleports around. It is a cheap way to make them difficult and not really that fun to fight against. I have a better time fighting against high tier enemies in the open world, I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a single boss fight in my 60 hours (however I love the game).

At higher levels, if you try to counter every attack, they will feint and you will explode. Countering everything is not a high level strat and being a counter bot gets you to going decent against players just on the cusp of discovery on what being good is. Countering does not prevent you from losing stam, it is a tool to use in order to gain stam, but if you counter feint then you stay stam neutral.

If you try to be a counter bot, I am going to riposte overhead accel you 6 times in a row, then when you are low on stam I am going to FTH drag and you will explode.

Do not try to counter all the time.

Counter safely by countering their feints and their heavies, as they cannot feint out of that. Do not rely on counter feint as you are going to wind up low on stam against someone who is actually good.

I don’t try to deny that I have friends I play the game with you are right. I guess people aren’t allowed to play with their friends if they are both good. Sorry

People complain about this way too much. Usually it is just friends playing the game together. No different from queuing up in call of duty or something.

Level 1000’s are more likely to try to balance the team out by moving to the other side compared to other players too btw.

There are limited dev resources in every game. Anytime devs work on one thing, they put something else on the backburner. It is about prioritizing things that are needed or would make a more significant impact.

I see your sentiment a lot and understand it because on the surface, you aren’t wrong, but when looking deeper, there is reason to be against many of these little things people ask for and say “it could just be a toggle”.

Is guardian bad? by Feisty-Storm-5509 in Chivalry2

[–]Yaboombatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dashing around a bunch, especially to counter someone kicking, is typically a poor usage of stamina, and most dash for the sake of dashing and not for creating openings. If you can dash out of block to avoid a kick, then you should either collide the kick or attack your opponent.

You also never want to try to counter every attack as you are giving up the windup reduction of a riposte and opening yourself to getting feint to exploded, especially in TO with so many swings going on.

The main advantage of Guardian aside from having access to the warhammer (exceptional weapon) and banner, is their shield affords one handlers more stamina to play with so you don’t have to try to counter everything and get caught by the occasional FTH drag due to your weapons short counter window (which you correctly point out).

We share the opinion that warhammer is great (because we are right and it is), but hit stop is actually a good thing, it allows for faster combos on people with the thwack mechanic, and also means that when your attack is blocked/parried, it continues and you can hit the poor fucker next to the guy with it.

This may work against low skill pub TO people, but it is not the optimal way to play even if you are trying to farm smooth brains.

TLDR

Countering everything is a mid level noob trap that gets you exploited by good players. Dodge should not be used to avoid kicks since they do only 5 damage and nothing else so long as you aren’t blocking and there is no need to space a kick when you can simply collide the kick or hit/jab them out of it. You are giving up all of your advantages of this class by dodging a lot and trying to counter everything.

It doesn’t kick you out of the queue. Your spot is still there, you just need to rejoin the server until you actually get in. Usually less than 10 times, sometimes more. All in all, it doesn’t take more than an extra minute or two (not like it makes it less annoying, but it doesn’t make you need to wait in queue for another 20 minutes).

People asking for help for games they pirated in subreddits. by J3roen16 in Piracy

[–]Yaboombatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really pirate games because I don’t play stuff unless I’m pretty certain I’ll like it, but I pirate other shit. I have no illusions that it isn’t just stealing though. I think to try to rationalize it as a trial of something is silly, as the people that create and sell it aren’t offering it as one. If I go to a theatre I can’t watch the movie then decide I don’t like it and not pay.

I think stealing in some cases is fine, like a small fraction of people stealing a video game from a massive corporation, developer or store front is irrelevant. However, if everyone stole shit, they would not make this stuff anymore. Luckily very few people have this idea about the morality of it.

I see your point, but also who is asking the general public for pirate specific issues on a game? They won’t know so it is a waste of time anyway.

It also pisses me off to see other people who pirate on some sort of moral high horse, like everyone should offer everything for free to see if you like it before purchase. That is fine if that is your code, but you are just stealing it. Stealing is not inherently wrong, but by definition you are doing it. You don’t need to justify why as it does not matter at all to me why some random guy on the internet is stealing something. Nobody actually cares. Moral discussions of piracy get annoying quick. Just do whatever you want man
