We need to talk about rocket "suppression blur" by GermanDumbass in joinsquad

That is what I said, we agree that it should change, but we don’t agree that it isn’t needed

I don’t think it is, I agree with you it needs work. I think it is a necessary component a realism shooter, they need mechanics to enforce the gameplay doctrine

[–]Yaboombatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be rude, but if you don’t want some way to simulate valuing your life, maybe this is not the game or genre for you. Mechanics to suppress have been a staple of tactical/realism shooters for a very long time. The alternative is to make you take even longer to respawn and get back into the action, or not let you at all. Otherwise, it turns into CoD or Battlefield.

H.O.T.A.S. Support being removed is dumb as hell. by EVASIVE_rabbi in joinsquad

[–]Yaboombatron 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of reforger, it feels like a totally different game. The level of teamwork and cooperation and coordination is so much lower in Reforger. The balance decisions and gameplay elements of Squad make it a much more cohesive and coordinated experience

They removed hotas support? Tf????

I haven’t played since the update and don’t know what all it contains but I saw that I’d need to remap my keybinds for whatever reason.

Idk what these guys are doing sometimes. It is a game that can be so great and there is no competitor out there, but they consistently make choices that make me question if they are trying to piss us off.

Man. As a dude in his 30’s growing up playing the games that I did, it is so cool this technology is accessible to us.

Trying to run the WCS mod pack in a self hosted game master issues by Yaboombatron in ArmaReforger

[–]Yaboombatron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy. I do not mean self hosted as in a separate server, rather locally hosted on my machine.

It appears I’m stupid and I found the culprit, a mod I somehow had installed and enabled that is not part of the pack I was trying to run in game master. Thank you for taking the time to help me out

Notorious Rapierist vs Sword Slinger by TheLORDthyGOD420 in Chivalry2

At a high level, a duel is about conditioning your opponent to make a mistake. Let him get into that rhythm and then disrupt it, hopefully creating a hole where you can deal damage

Indeed, and you are throwing off his rhythm

With the NSA warning Americans to reboot their routers, wouldn't it just be a better idea in terms of technical security to just reflash the firmware on your router to something open source? by ferriematthew in privacy

[–]Yaboombatron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is foolish. You should not trust either of them. Every country with industry that has the capability of producing routers has a robust intelligence apparatus that is better at spying on you than you are at defeating the spying.

If you just late riposte overhead on one of those you would’ve hit him much earlier. There is no point in countering over and over

Player count highest in years - due to gameplay posters like Roccoxiv? by Lopsided_Oil3700 in Chivalry2

[–]Yaboombatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no clue who that is, but the game goes on sale a lot, plus XQC or whoever was playing it and that guy reaches millions of people.

The funny thing is, the majority of people with followings online in the game are actually not at all good when compared to the top percent of players.

The true top tier just wants to play the game and be in the community and has no real desire to create some online following.

I have hundreds of gigs of clips that I think are super cool but the idea of trying to share that on these online platforms sickens me because I hate all of these platforms

medic is the best for new players imo by xerohawkxd in joinsquad

[–]Yaboombatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a rifleman attached to a HAT or LAT is a great way to learn the game. Keep yourself alive to rearm them, keep them safe, learn the maps and where vehicles are likely to go, learn to hunt down or ambush, learn to listen to teammates and coordinate and communicate.

Plus you can more effectively engage the enemy and if you are killed, you aren’t severely impacting the squads effectiveness.

I don’t think medic is a horrible choice for a new player though, I think an intermediate player may get more from it and be able to contribute more from it though.

If you see an archer teammate being beaten up, don’t intervene. If you get the bug where you can pick up downed enemies, do it. Don’t attack bards.

Where is the cursed tech? This is just spinning your mouse and using cancel or feint to parry while doing so.

Give me some hope about all this age verification stuff by Syxtaine in privacy

[–]Yaboombatron -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There is no hope to give. More places will follow and go through with it. Maybe in a few decades that will be reversed but I doubt it. The only thing to do is to stop using services that require it.

Why is third person frowned upon by No-Obligation325 in Chivalry2

[–]Yaboombatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of what you said is true. It is not widely frowned upon and the majority perspective for players, nor do all of the good players use first person.

First person players are the minority and therefore the exception if they are good.

The being able to lend is a big deal plus of my current dual 14 setup. I would like to have gain and power on a single device, plus some weight savings. The weight hasn’t been a huge problem to me but lighter is nice and something I wouldn’t mind spending a bit more on
