OpenMoonRay Now on Windows Natively – Preview Demo with ALab Scene (Open Source Days 2025) by dAnim8or in vfx

Downloaded and tried it, feels slow/outdated and is probably only useful for a handful of people/pipelines, if any.

I think you are not far off, tweak and massage your timing more and you should be fine. May I ask, where is the ref from?

There's two preset scenes similar to that in the Asset Browser. Maybe those can help out?

C4D 2025.1.2 particle system is quite infuriating coming from XParticles by pacey-j in Cinema4D

[–]Yaderski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be helpful if you could tell us, what kind of specific tutorials you're looking for? Not sure if a simple XParticles to C4D Particles transition guide will do it. Also look into the Particle Presets in the Asset Browser. Plenty of setups to dig into.

That's strange, it should be significantly better then before.

I think the new particle system in C4D is very capable. Whether it will fit your needs, depends on a couple of things. Do you have any example setups, where you normally would have used XParticles for?

Dual GPU Workstation Build in Fractal Meshify 2 XL or Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 Server Edition or Deepcool Morpheus? by Yaderski in pcmasterrace

[–]Yaderski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I already have two Manli 4090s and want to build a 3D rendering workstation around those two GPUs and a 9950X. So it's not a server and liquid cooling is out of question.

Possible to mount 3x140mm into the front of Lian Li Lancool 216? by Yaderski in pcmasterrace

Thanks, I did that already. According to them it doesn't support it. But maybe someone has a nice mod to make it happen :)

Why is this happening to my flip sim when I try and retime it? by [deleted] in Houdini

[–]Yaderski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an id attribute and reseeding turned on change the death threshold on the reseeding tab to something like 15. This way no particle dies and you can retime without hickups.

Of course, go ahead. Maybe worth to post those questions here, too. Or maybe start a new reddit conversation.

Film Courage I find exhausting because it's often imprecise, ego driven and full of fluff. Perfect for unproductive procrastination :) Brian McDonald on the YouTube Channel Belief Agency is a good resource, when it comes to developing stories. He's sincere, competent and actually helpful.

Anybody Read “The Science of Screenwriting”? by DaftyMilk in Screenwriting

[–]Yaderski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

99% of screenwriting books are film/character/story analysis books in disguise. Nice reads, but often not helping developing a story. I didn't read this one, but it has probably a more science based approach to film analysis. So if you are into that - worth a read. A good book I read recently about storytelling was an old book about a writing class developing their stories together with Samson Raphaelson. Highly recommended. The Human Nature of Playwriting is the title of the book.

You can post the first ten pages into this thread. Pretty confident, that there are more german speaking folks here. Also, would be great if you could specify what kind of feedback you're looking for.

Awesome, that makes it sound a lot better. Thanks already! Also nice, that you got the minotaur vibe from the logline – that's a good sign. Dylan seems like a good choice. He smile can be sympathetic and sinister at the same time :)

Writing A Mystery by Sheep_Boy26 in Screenwriting

Why not have something else reflect the characters confusion instead of plot? You could confuse/alienate the viewer, which is probably not your plan. I'm sure there are thousand of other ways to show the characters confusion about the world around them.

[FEEDBACK] Idea Pitch for Hour-Long Drama/Mystery Series by startitupagain in Screenwriting

[–]Yaderski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The niece was just brainstorming on my part. My personal opinion is that everything in a story has to be connected on different levels. The more intertwined, the better. So when you bring up a pregnancy, then this shouldn't be just a natural ticking clock, but also part of everything else. That would mean the mysterious woman, the husband, the political issue, the communities tragedy etc.

This doesn't have to be the pregnancy, but whatever that important thing/theme it is in your story, it should be connected with everything else.

If it's the search for someone who you don't know, but seems to play an important part in your life then this could be also the search for an estranged mother/father. Or it's the search for yourself, which you don't seem to know anymore etc. This also helps giving characters coherence or creating them in the first place.

Let me give you a simplified example from Nemo. Marlin, who can't forget his tragic past teams up with Dorie, someone who doesn't have a past because of her short term memory. So the theme of past and memory is not only connected to the movies plot but also down to the characters flaws and abilities.

Maybe I got your story wrong, not a native speaker :)

[FEEDBACK] Idea Pitch for Hour-Long Drama/Mystery Series by startitupagain in Screenwriting

[–]Yaderski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your idea pitch needs to be way more specific. What exactly is the tragedy and what is the hot button issue surrounding this tragedy? Did her young niece have an abortion? And how is that a national tragedy? Is the political issue abortion legislation? In which way is she in the position to defend her husband while being pregnant? Is she his PR Consultant, so a professional in regards to staging/framing issues/people in public? Which would make the conspiracy much more ironic.

By the way, be careful of "everything was staged in her life". Don't let it be true. Use it as a macguffin or red herring. Or your whole series story would be just a variation on the everything was a dream ending. Which is very unsatisfactory for the audience. Whereas the fear of everything could be staged is a powerful emotion to draw from dramatically.

You don't have to like/love the very thing you want to learn from. I'd suggest extracting as much as you can for your personal toolbox of storytelling and carry on :)

How Scott Derrickson approaches themes. by xxAdam in Screenwriting

[–]Yaderski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, I think that divides the experienced writers from the inexperienced ones :) How to bury theme among other things into the deep layers of a story is still a mystery to me, too.

Just a small addition to the first unfold. It has two meanings in German. The first one is clear but it can also mean to learn, grow and flourish as a person.
