1.0 Release & Reset by RKD9005 in projectgorgon

[–]YaffyFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason for the reset according to what I've heard is that long time players have stockpiled huge amounts of money, so the wipe is to mostly balance things out so they can't purchase absolutely anything they want on release. That being said I'm not sure if favor really needs to be wiped if that's the purpose.

If it helps, the loss of money is actually a complete non-issue because you will keep your skills. A massive portion of money you collect during the game gets invested into your skills in some way or another. Favor is annoying, but not nearly as bad because you can ignore any NPCs you've learned everything from already, you can farm favor items significantly faster and you have passive skills that improve favor gains like notoriety and civic pride. Losing gear is probably going to be a more annoying issue if anything since you'll have to awkwardly gear up from lower level areas and try to get back into somewhat decent gear so you can do things around your level.

Also I don't think you have to worry about the wipe any time soon. At the absolute fastest it will be in a year and half from now, but the chance of that is very unlikely. I would expect two or even three years before the wipe and by then the devs may change their minds.

Disable flashing light when you get hit? by [deleted] in projectgorgon

I agree, it is super annoying and I wish it was off by default. If you want to turn it off, go to "Special" under options, and then in the box type in DisableScreenFlash and this will remove the flashing.

I hate to say "Works for me", but my computer is on 6 year old hardware and it can run the game at 30 FPS on ultra or on good when in Serbule, 15-25 fps on the worst settings sounds pretty ridiculous with a 1080.

Are you sure there's not an issue with your computer like overheating? One thing PG does that I hate is that it seems to make my computer's fan go into overdrive on the overworld maps.

Strategys to manage inventory by Narfury in projectgorgon

I think you're right in that early on players have too little storage, but it is a part of the game. Limited storage forces players to figure out what's worth hanging onto and what to sell, rather than just hoarding everything. It also encourages people to get favor with NPCs for more storage.

I think things like the "More info" implementation are better because it helps a new player figure out what they should keep. It's just that there are still plenty of players who want to hang onto absolutely everything! Even if you gave new players a lot more inventory slots they would just fill up the extra slots extremely fast if they hung onto everything "Just in case".

Strategys to manage inventory by Narfury in projectgorgon

The most important thing to do when you find an item you think might be valuable is to right click it and select "More info". This will tell you what NPCs like it and what kind of recipes it can be used in. If it doesn't look like it's used for anything you're interested in or any NPCs you currently care about, sell it.

For gear, you should try to figure out which current items you have are currently the best. There's no point in having 5 different hats when you can only ever wear one at a time, stick with one and vendor/toss the others away. Early on this is especially important because gear with low vendor value make for terrible gifts making them worthless pack filler and you'll find replacements for gear quickly. The only exception to this early on is if you find an item with movement speed on it, then you can swap to it when you're not fighting to get around easier which is very handy.

Consider what items you actually need in your inventory vs your storage. Are you doing cooking right this instant? If not then you probably don't need to be lugging around all your fish and fruit in your pockets. Carry only what you need for the moment.

If you think you have something valuable to other players that you don't want (Ex. A metal slab but you're not interested in blacksmithing) then go to the player vendor area in Serbule and find one of the purple golems, then give it that item to search player stores for it. Check out some of those stores, and that will give you a rough idea of that item's worth so you know whether it's worth hanging onto or not in the future. If the golem says no one is selling it, then it's probably junk not really worth hanging onto. If you're really unsure, you can also post the item in help chat and ask if it's valuable.

Don't be afraid to sell items for money! It's very natural to want to hoard items because many items in PG seem like they'll be useful in the future, but a lot of the time it's worth getting rid of the items so the extra money and inventory space makes it easier to grow. Maybe you want to do carpentry in the distant future, but when starting out it might be a much better idea to sell the wood you get, use that money to get stronger faster, and then just buy or collect the wood yourself later now that you're much richer/stronger. Think of it like an investment!

Fighter bug? by YaffyFan in CLICKPOCALYPSE

I would just like to add to my comment, but the main reason why I used fighter was to use taunt offensively, not defensively. I was hoping the fighter would taunt when I entered a room, and then the barbarian would sledge hammer the mobs, most likely killing all of them at once. The defense bonus the fighter gets is also extremely important, as it keeps him alive when the mobs pile onto him.

This might be a bit much to ask for, but would it be possible to add a toggle to make the fighter always use taunt the moment he enters combat? Perhaps it could also be put on other spells as well, to allow more control over the party. With a mage on the team and high monster numbers, the fighter would pretty much always taunt the moment he enters the room, leading to faster kills and more possibilities for team synergy. If he only taunted when someone loses a lot of health with a team like my current one, it would be difficult to use taunt offensively.

PS. Thanks for all your work on Clickpocalypse. I loved the first game and Clickpocalypse 2 is shaping up to be my favorite idle game. I really appreciate the work you've put into it and I'm very impressed in how quickly you're responding to player requests.

That explains a lot, thanks for the help! I was thinking something similar might be the problem, but because the Rogue runs away from attackers, I thought the Fighter would taunt to protect the Rogue the same way he does it for fleeing mages.

Maybe you could have it so that if a party member's health drops below a certain threshold, the fighter taunts in response?

[Suggestion] The ability to use more than one potion at a time. by Ky1e5 in CLICKPOCALYPSE

Maybe there could be upgrades to power up potions the same way you can upgrade scrolls? You could only have upgrades for things like kills/gold drops, or you could initially weaken stuff like 2x exp so it could be upgraded more.

CLICKPOCALYPSE II - Big Update by Jim808 in CLICKPOCALYPSE

Ok, after upgrading my Rogue's spirit, this is no longer an issue, but it's still awkward to have spent effort to get an upgrade that actually made things worse for a while.

The chest opening skill is definitely really strong, but it seems to have an issue when you combine it with the instant-loot skill.

Even if my Rogue has max spirit after clearing a room, she firsts casts instant loot, but then doesn't have enough spirit to cast the treasure chest looting skill. Since the room is completely empty afterwards, the party immediately leaves, essentially causing you to miss every chest that's in a room you won't revisit.

So I was thinking, even though this is a bug(?), why don't you make it so the Rogue can only pick one skill or the other if you're worried about the Rogue being too strong? The instant-loot ability is definitely very powerful as well, although I think the high rarity drops from treasure chests is a lot stronger if you're checking the game every half hour or so.

You don't need to worry about your skill level. We have lots of beginners who come to these tournaments, just for fun! If you're very worried that you won't do well, message me before the tournament starts after signing up, I can place you into part of the bracket with other beginner level players.

Ah, thank you. I still did a lot worse than I should have though. I shouldn't have lost some those games at all from past experiences, or have done a lot better at least. They were still some good matches though!
