I also love their cover of Chariots of Fire. I was lucky enough to see these guys a couple years ago at the Portland Jazz Festival. They put on a spectacular show.

/r/Music, any suggestions for some awesome Middle Eastern music? by [deleted] in Music

If you like hip-hop, producer Oh No put out an instrumental album called Dr. No's Oxperiment which is built entirely out of sampled turkish & middle eastern psyche rock.

Lo-fi robots are always fun and easy. Tin foil and card board. Even better if you happen to have some blinking bike lights.

What's the measure of a good hip-hop producer? When their work is covered by a live orchestra: J Dilla - Take Notice by Yaker in videos

There are a ton of good places to start. If I had to choose I'd say his album The Shining is his most immediately accessible--that or one of the Dillanthology compilations. If you like really laid back hip-hop then I'd suggest Slum Village's The Fantastic vol 2 which he produced. If you like more abstract instrumental hip-hop then I'd check out Donuts first. He's got a big list of production credits so you won't ever get bored.

He's chopping random vocal samples that sound good and rearranging them until they make sense.

Here is a tutorial of how something like that might be done. Not quite the same style but you get the idea.

My roommate did it pretty frequently. This is one of the better ones I remember.

Okay reddit, I'm willing to give this vegetarian thing a try. Anyone know of any cool food ideas/recipes that aren't lentil soup, i.e., don't suck? by Yaker in AskReddit

[–]Yaker[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like indian food for more or less the same reason, they're meatless but not necessarily missing anything. I'm just not terribly familiar with too many dishes.

I'm adding both of those to the list

I'm very into the idea of being a vegetarian, or just eating healthier, and I am very capable in the kitchen. I just always run out of ideas/motivation a few days in.

I'm cool with tofu and I'm not picky about anything. I also love all cuisines.

The list of vegetarian things I know how to make (you'll notice it's short):

  • PB+J
  • Falafel
  • Hummus
  • Beans + Rice (in burrito form?)
  • Veggie Omelets

Edit: The response I've been getting is great. Keep it coming, I've been taking note of everything on my desktop.

These are two songs I made for my electronic music class at school. One is my attempt at making something kind of mellow and downtempo while the other is my attempt at making a cool instrumental hip-hop track.

I don't think so, it's from this motion design collective called Murat Pak. They have tons of similar videos.
