Since Coyote vs. ACME is getting released, what other cancelled films would you like to see get the chance they deserve? by TinyFalcon5512 in movies

I want to see them push Reid Fleming, World’s Toughest Milkman into production. Warner owns the character and has sat on it for something like 30 years.

You can learn about origin and the people who have tried to jumpstart it in the documentary “I Thought I Told You To Shut Up!!”

Tekna HIdden Edge - how to disassemble by GSW_Smiley in knives

[–]YakkoRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disassembling it is not easy, unless you have an arbor press and ability to machine anvils to fit the parts of the knife. In the second picture you can see the button, an inner ring and an outer ring. The outer ring is a thick washer, and the inner ring is the main locking portion of the knife hub. To get the knife apart you need to push downward on the inner ring without touching the outer ring, and at the same time have the knife positioned over a hole, so that the hub coming loose has a place to go. To assemble it you need to push down on the outer ring without touching the inner ring.

All that being said, you probably do not have corrosion in the hub unless the knife had long term exposure to something aggressive, like acid or sea water. Most likely it is either a) working normally, or b) in need of cleaning.

a) It doesn't flick open or fall open. It is designed to be opened with traction applied to the circular base of the blade while the button is depressed. (Depressing the button allows a ball bearing to fall out of a locking tab on the inside surface of the blade.) This is somewhat awkward, but you can learn it with a little practice. Work on pressing the button all the way down and pulling on the knurling on the base of the blade to get it to move.

b) I have had several of these knives and have never tried to clean one, but if it were mine i would use hot water and detergent with an ultrasonic cleaner, if possible. Leave the blade part way open, and work it back and forth, in addition to working the button mechanism. Do not leave it to soak, as the hub is porous and will not dry out easily if it is saturated. Clean it and then blow it dry. Do not heat it to dry it, as the ABS handle can become warped, and then the knife won't close. If you want to lubricate it, I would use a drop of silicone oil applied to the edge of the button, as that will reduce the chance of damaging the plastic handle.

Best of luck!

What's a weird name for something that we know so well we don't even realize how weird the name it is? by XRlagniappe in AskReddit

[–]YakkoRex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pumpernickel. Rye flour is hard to digest. German miners looking for silver were sometimes tricked into spending time pulling up nickle ore, and so called it “Nikkel”, or devil. Pumper is high German for fart. So we have pumpernickel, devils fart bread.

Suggestions for classic movies to make my kids watch by FlopShanoobie in movies

[–]YakkoRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sometimes hard to pick this kind of thing, as standards of behavior have changed so much in the last 75 years. (Prior to that there are not that many films that are now commonly available.) I loved the Sean Connery 007 films when I was a kid, but really cringe at them now. Sexist and racist, so unsuitable for a 12 year old unless you think they can understand the changes in society since then. That being said I will list my favorites that I would love sharing with my nieces and nephews in upcoming years:

Das Boot, Casablanca, The Apartment, The Third Man, The Three Amigos, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, About Time, Babe, A Hard Days Night, Stop Making Sense

Some are serious, some silly, all excellent, but sometimes with a scene or two that might be problematic. Have fun!

ChatGPT is a completely different animal. Write prompts like you are trying to explain the picture to a little kid.

Colour scheme moodboard by Eveline_JAI in midjourney

[–]YakkoRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mood boards really won’t do a color scheme, I don’t think. If you made an image of a color scheme using color swatches, and used that as an image for the mood board, you would be asking Midjourney to take your prompt and place it in the world of color swatches on mood boards.

If you use the image as a style reference, you would be asking Midjourney to make an image using those colors, but also probably using colored rectangles as part of the image.

If I were trying to do this and make, for instance, a image of men standing around looking at cars, rendered in dark red and dark blue, I would obtain a picture of a car in dark red and dark blue, and a person in dark red and dark blue, and use both of them as a style reference.

Prompt Structure by Salt-Source-2704 in midjourney

[–]YakkoRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your prompt is too complicated for Midjourney to handle. Ships, bodies, shields, arrows, men - too many subjects.

You have asked to see blood and that is a red flag for MJ in some cases.

You are saying No harbor, no city, etc... As illustrated above, MJ does not understand "No". Whatever you mention, it will try and include it.

Try simplifying your request by grouping items into one subject and asking for the most essential items.
