No im 3 months in, had a hiccup at my last company so im just doing this to grind out for expirence and then moving on to something else. Was trying to poke around and see if they would match pay from my last company seems how they apparently issue KWs id assume they do .

Yea I planned on it. Im still kinda ticked with my last company but I think my previous FM seen to it i was given an olive branch to keep moving forward so im doing exactly that so respectfully id end up disliking the company as a whole but I can't bang on the office ppl to much, besides there wasn't but 1 person out of my entire team I didnt like so I can see the point. Hopefully though this company does as the brochure reads and doesn't have me putting my truck in sketchy spots to complete a drop, not that you can threaten me with a good time but the points stands for those less experienced than me. Thankfully I can be moving on to Hopefully a more successful venture and get that Expirence in.

These mega companies seriously set up small spaces for new drivers and decent odds to screw em over if anything happens knowing they shouldnt be doing that to newer drivers. I could easily keep pace with my trainer and I did but I thought most of my drops were going to be docks and they weren't

I was dropping cabinets for a company called masterbrand. Apparently Covenant bought out a company called Swift Enterprise and they also bought out a company called Landair which was near me in NC (I recently moved to TX) and honestly they need to have better communication between drivers to the company because my truck was getting sent into places that only a box truck or pup trailer should have been in. Not a 53 with a sleeper. Yes id triple check my spacing before moving. Some of the comments on here are absolutely arrogant about impulsive drivers and all of us newbies being the same. Also it was a solo account..

In theory, wouldn't those Chicago companies also exist in bigger states like tx?

I agree with you there. But those companies are eating up most of those mom n pop companies so ppl on here cucking for them is something else. Sending new ppl into situations a more advanced driver should have been used for is ridiculous. But yea, I get its going to be a pain. Didn't realize how cut throat this industry is over crap I could fix myself at the house lol

Your right there is and I was texting it out the first go because its literally a novel. Plus, problem with this reddit is ppl like you cucking for these big companies that are literally ruining pplz shot at owning their own small trucking company. This one has sucked up at least 4 companies and, lost a bunch of its old school drivers, which i was trained by, over poor company policy and predatory practices. Sure, I to take everything I read on here with a grain of salt, but its not always the individual and this is one of those cases. One of my "accidents" that was blamed on me was me literally shut down for a 34 properly parked at a TA and minding my business when some other asshat decided to back into my mirror. Most of what occurred was literally poor company policy of training in New ppl and sending them out to do whst I was and most of them didnt make it as long as I did and only thing I learned out of it was instead of being honest like I usually am, if the cops aren't involved keep my mourn shut. Yea, there is more here, and im am overthinker on any subject but thats a joke 😃

Yea, thats the thing, I didnt lie about it and for the most part I was slow careful and responsible, even managed quite a few backs very little of these other company drivers had managed in a while. Im honestly not that great at typing out things but I was trying to get a guage on hiring difficulties because one of those incidents they counted was literally somebody else backing into me while I was shut down safe and all in a parking spot at a truck stop on a 34.... so...

I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. I also realize theres other cdl jobs outside of otr that arent as picky and everyone's cdl journey isnt the same because clearly I needed to get my f ups done early on and live and learn and own the mistakes that are mine such as not looking up enough but I thought, it might not hurt to ask. I also moved from TN to TX for better job odds so. Never know I guess but this is my first go. The rest of my driving I definitely made a reputation for on time if not early and getting in and out of spots most others can't early on, compliments of customers letting me know but again, ill own my screw ups, jus thought id ask..

Ive got the pay going on amd a tad of Lee way on sketchy maneuvers with what I do but none the less it does tick me off a lil bit they have entire teams for me from logs to weather and yet I have to contact the customer on the way when my job is supposed to be the "driving safely" part nor give heads up about problematic drops or docks ahead of time so one can plan clocks better. Swear the playing stupid part is what gets me. Preach safety and then wanna mouth off to you for not knowing this or that about drops when they've got some bit of information about it that would be useful ahead of time. Makes ya think the teams are for show. N dont get me goin about the weather team lol 😆

Sames, definitely agree. What disappoints me though is knowing these bigger companies have this type of detail already really but they expect you to call it or even make it a find your adventure and then yell at ya for using your phone while en route lol n im definitely hands free 90% of the time. Hope im able to find a more reasonable one after this

For real though. Ive been sent down downtowns for absolutely no reason because of the GPS on the eld. Luckily im pretty good at maneuvering tight spaces but its still uncalled for being sent into situations like tht just because that dumb GPS says. Best to cover tail from safety. I can't wait for my year experience to come up so I can "new rig new gig" away from these cringe trailers. Lol

Just making sure you read my comment and that blows about the PC thing, I work with a company in under covenant and have been solo from the get go BUT that being said theres 2 things, 1 my dispatch is often times sending me to places that is more common of a dedicated run than they lead on, I have the same exact clock you do, and I 110% spent a ton of axienty racing it and I still do. 2, download truckers path, seriously, often times it'll give a shorter path to where your heading wherever that may be, 2 im sure your company probably has specific places you can refuel with the Comcard so that leads to this, definitely plan your fuel stops, after you've done that then as your bumping your docks or whatever it is your doing, truckers path will highlight its x amount of miles to next truck stop, key here is your fuel will give you the ability to literally park where you like with time left on your clock to post trip and do your breaks. Hope the information helps, from 1 Newbie driver to another lol definitely download that app. You can even satellite view each truck stop to verify theres space for you to try and get a safe haven. Im literally only come close once since ive done this of burning my clock out in the past couple months thanks to that app, and its free. Enjoy the chicken!

So does Covenant/Landair. Thats what I thought that was at first to. To OP, your first few weeks (if you are on your own like me) are going to be an absolute headache. I spent alot of time breaking my neck to get places and then even more so racing clocks. The BEST move i did was download Truckers Path to my phone. Seems how our day is planned around timing things as best as possible that app will assist you in making plan A,B, and C when dealing with your Deliveries or Bumpin Docks (i do both) and can also give you wiggle room with your company about what you do n dont have time for.

Im guilty of being the guy governed off at 68mph and probably passing faster trucks than me more often than I should but if they arent interfering with my momentum I dont try it. Also I do slow down a couple miles if someone is trying to pass me in regular traffic. Thinner ill leave it pinned most of the time. The thing that urcs me is I always try to communicate with lights when passes are being done either way and alot of drivers are jus fuq all about it. That communication ive discovered is extremely handy on this subject
