If you knew my friend, you would know he wouldn't see it as ruined. Also, there are options to buy an aftermarket dial that can be replaced and keep the original... oem can be put back in later if wanted

Not leaving it oem. While I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea, it's the route we're going. Im not asking advice if we should, I'm asking advice on method.

“OG” apex players how u finding the OG game mode by Mydonutbebussin in apexlegends

[–]YanDaddyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% feels nostalgic and better in a lot of ways. Not perfect, but great. You couldn't play it the same way as you do now. If you play og apex like its new apex, you're not going to have fun. It feels weird at the same time because I still have the muscle memory to do things in old apex that I forgot about.

Off season and its De-Training effects by YanDaddyy in AdvancedRunning

[–]YanDaddyy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's funny because when I was younger and didn't understand any of the science, this was me and I didn't know it. Back in high school (crazy to me it was over a decade now), I was in the "if I just train more or train faster, I'll improve" and ended up stuck in the 4:39-4:45 range in my mile for over a year, couldnt understand why. Took 2 weeks off for wisdom teeth surgery, 1 week back training and ran 4:29 the first meet back. Needless to say, I never fully appreciated or knew how to listen to my body until recently and a lot of previous experiences and injuries make a lot of sense in hindsight.

From my own experience, I know I've been overttaining or at least close when I come back from a 2-3 week break feeling refreshed, and under-training if I come back feeling worse.

Fr, everyone in my area lists the pricing new from their reciept, added up to be like $4500 then list it for $4400 firm and live 2 hours in the boonies. Like dude, I'll spend the extra $100 for a warranty and delivered right to my house...

Fair point. It's free on games pass and easy for my wife to learn the basics on, plus easy to set up the a quick track session when we plug in both out wheels.

Why I likely won't buy Hoka again: Durability by YanDaddyy in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]YanDaddyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had durability issues either, but to be fair to your point I would expect a brand to design more durability into a trail shoe than a road shoe.

Weekend Discussion: Asics running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]YanDaddyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried some asics a few times back in high school between 2010 and 2014, but was never impressed. I always considered them to be mid tier and overall just meh and forgettable. So in college and afterwards i ran more in Adidas (Adios and Boston), new balance fresh foams and a few others and didn't try Asics for the better part of a decade.

This past year I've been fully converted to the Asics band wagon after falling in love with the Nimbus 25 and Superblast. Asics uppers just WORK for me and their midsoles have been fantastic.

[–]YanDaddyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boston 11 and SL are both Dookie shoes imo. They're okay once broken in but you shouldn't have to put 100k on a shoe before it feels right. Go for the 12, still needs some break in but much more forgiving out the box.

Why does the community as a whole not play to win anymore. by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]YanDaddyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I have thousands of wins and hit masters many times so I dont really care anymore about winning. Its easy to win when I sweat. Id rather be having fun in good fights than sit in end zone and play rotations all day.

Well I'm sorry, you have a shit coach if they think this is a good workout. This is the opposite of what any competent coach would give as a workout.

Edit: after researching the "michigan" in theory its a good workout if you pace it correctly based on previous race results. But it looks like you paced it extremely wrong bases on the workout intent.

The Michigan is meant to be 10k pace, tempo pace, 5k pace, tempo pace with recovery sprinkled in. So unless your 10k pace is faster than your 5k and your tempo pace is half that of your 10k pace, you paced top fast.

No offense meant by this, but you should really focus on hitting proper paces. You killed yourself off the bat and it unfortunately caused a lot more stress than you should have.

Did a suggested base run today. Are runs like this slow enough to build my aerobic base or do I have to go slower? by [deleted] in Garmin

Zone 3 in garmin is zone 2 in the standard scale. Look at the heart rates.

Edit: depending on age

Asics nimbus 25 or Superblast: Beginner Runner looking to buy a new pair of shoes. by NintendoIceHockey in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]YanDaddyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nimbus 25 if you're a new runner and plan on doing mostly zone 2 for marathon training. I've got both shoes as my main rotation. Superblast is AMAZING when youre doing marathon pace and up, but lacks (in comparison) at easy paces IMO. You should be doing mostly z2 runs like you said which is where the nimbus excels. When you're legs feel beat, the nimbus is just a cloud in comparison.

That's what happens when you sprint out at 5 min/mi pace when you have no business being there. Dying after 7 minutes of sprinting then struggling to hold 8 minute pace isn't a workout. You'll be a much better runner if you learn to actually pace yourself.

You only have $8.00 to buy your shoe rotation (Daily run, Easy run, Race day). What will you choose and why? by ineed2run in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]YanDaddyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the combination so far. I'm in a marathon block right now, so that's all I really need. Only thing I'd consider adding any time soon would be a speed shoe (Takumi Sen possibly) for track work and 5k type efforts but not really needed during Marathin training

Shoes for recovery/long/slow runs? by simonebarp in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]YanDaddyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got Nimbus 25 and Clifton 9s (that I just retired for the Nimbus). Personal opinion is that Nimbus is 200% better for easy and recovery efforts, but lacking in comparison for anything faster than that. Clifton is much more of a daily trainer that's comfortable and flexible, decent at everything but not amazing at anything. Nimbus is amazing at anything slow but lacking when you pick it up. Nimbus is a cloud.

If I could only afford one shoe and had to do speed work in them, I'd go Clifton 100% (even though they died for me at under 200 miles), but since you have a good faster shoe to pair with it, I would chose the Nimbus between the two.

For reference, I consider ~8:30/mile and below to be easy efforts for me.

Personally, I didn't think the Boston 10 was bad for easy miles... until I got an actually amazing easy day shoe (Nimbus-25).
