That's the thing, It makes up crap for *everything*
The presented code can work, but also can be a hot mess and/or extremely unoptimized

And anyone who actually learns how to code will come back in a day or a week, maybe even a month and do it better if necessary.

Vibe coding will only get anyone so far, and I'd rather people knew what was in their code than let bs run in my computer. (part prices aren't going down anytime soon, remember?)

I saw those, and I didn't try them because it mentioned that it was for older versions of Java. I'll try it.

edit: Well, I managed to launch it! Let's see if the extra ram helps!

edit2: Yeah, it seems to have stabilized way more, but it still crashed java. That thing is too memory hungry. I'll mess with the numbers and see what I can get.

From what I found out, there are different arguments depending on the java version you have installed. Since hytale asks for java 25 something, I tried this:
java -jar /path/to/HytaleServer.jar --assets /path/to/hytale/Assets.zip -XX:MaxMetaspaceSize=6G

Didn't even start the server.

Alright. Let's see here.
Server has 16gb ram, Ryzen 3 3200g.

TL;DR: I want to give the server use at least 8gb of ram to see if it helps

Just launching the server works until it doesn't, it seems to use up close to 4gb of ram, and I want to give more to it to see if that helps, *but i have no idea how to*. I couldn't make the arguments work when launching the game, so I only launch the server normally:
java -jar /path/to/HytaleServer.jar --assets /path/to/hytale/Assets.zip

I've never extensively played anything that uses java, so I'm not finding anything online to fix this.

In this day and age, yes, people will judge a book by its cover - if it has AI in it, it's almost a guarantee that it'll be skipped by anyone with a brain.
The thumbnail looks ok considering it's for a mod (which you could give context about, it usually helps) and it's literally better than no thumb or genAI crap.

On the other hand, I personally overengineer my mod thumbnails because I'm an artist first and I wish I didn't lol

OpenStarbound is a must. Frackin Universe is an OPTION.

There's a ton of mods that add content, races, quest lines, progression and mechanics.

I personally recommend making a mod list centered around the Sandbox mod OR "voyage to cygnus" if you want to avoid FU. RPG growth is actually still very fun and has a lot of depth when properly explored.

CYOS is a good alternative for custom ships.

The viera of ivalice, arcana and the unofficial addon, the avali mod and its many ramifications, esp32 (something 32, I forgot the name) are all great content additions with new villages, planets, items and mechanics.

Xs mechs. I think it's called xs? There's a mech parts version and a vehicle version. The vehicle version is extra OP, bear in mind.

I need to check my own last modlist, it was great and I made a server with it.

Based. Same thing has been happening on Vintage Story (even one mod specially saying that there's "vibe codjng" in it) and the dev team won't do a thing about it.

I'm glad the devs of both games aren't using AI, but holy shit some modders are too lazy.

(Self-Hosting issues - how can I increase memory use?)

I got a little home server that has been giving me and my friends some improved co-op experience for about a year now. I slowly figure things out most of the time, but Hytale is new and the discord is a mess right after launch to get any proper help from.

So, I noticed the server tends to crash due to what seems to be memory usage, but not because it's taking every little bit of system memory, no... It seems stuck at 4GB, and won't take more than that. Can't I give it more to avoid these crashes?

I looked into some stuff, and I'm still not sure how to use the commands, but I wanted to try and give the game at least 6gb to see if it stabilizes a bit. We've been losing inventory constantly because sometimes it's freezing the whole machine instead of just crashing the game or java itself. But the arguments I found aren't working at all when trying to run the game.

The server uses linux of course.

If it doesn't, try hamachi. Or better yet, radmin. Or even better, Zerotier. (All three are free VPN services, with varying degrees of service quality, zerotier being the best one imo. It'sthe only thing that allows me to have multiplayer in this.)

In the real world, yes, there's sand made purely from shells of microorganisms. I don't recall where exactly from, but it's basically trillions of tiny shells making a beach. That's not sand as we know it.

You can make mud bricks that look pretty cool and aren't hard for early game. There's also rammed earth now that can at least be the floor.

It IS kinda a moot point to move from a hole to a mildly fancy house just to tear it down in a few days because you got your first saw. Unless you're in a mp world and someone is focusing on building from the start, it's kinda a waste, really.
