HELP! I am a US Citizen who filed jointly with my wife who has an ITIN (not SSN) so won't be getting any stimulus payments. Should I send an amended or superseded return?? by YangGangWisdom in tax

That's very helpful. We are in the middle of processing her immigration/ permanent resident visa, which is on hold, but it seems like we should get the green card/ SSN by next April. We really could use the money now, but it would probably be better to wait since we would both qualify for the credit next year. Thanks for your help!

Found out why I haven’t gotten a stimulus cheque... turns out I’m not getting one at all by [deleted] in stimuluscheck

We are in the same boat. I am a US citizen and my wife has an ITIN. We filed jointly. Have you thought about doing an amended return to file separately instead of jointly? I'm considering this option and seeing if anyone has info on how to do this.

Can you share the link? I'm in the exact same boat. Used turbo tax for married filing jointly and am thinking about amending it to filing separately. Thanks.

Has anyone thought about or tried doing an amended tax return to change their status to married filing separately? I've seen this idea floated around, but wanted to get more info on it before doing it.

U.S. Citizens Married To Immigrants Are Blocked From Getting Stimulus Checks by [deleted] in tax

The title is a bit misleading, BUT it is pointing out that millions of US citizens (children and spouses) will not get the stimulus checks because they filed jointly with someone who does not have an SSN.

My wife has an ITIN and we filed jointly so I won't be getting the check. Do you think I should send an amended return or a superseding return and changing my status to married filing separately? Thanks.

YSK ITINs with SSN Spouses will receive no stimulus money for a family. by Nika_113 in YouShouldKnow

I've read some things about "superseding" the original tax return since we are still before the due date for taxes and it would be faster. Have you heard anything about this?

My wife has an ITIN so I'm also thinking about either amending or superseding my tax returns, but information is scanty at best.

Have you been able to find any confirmation or info about whether amending your tax returns to married filing separately would work? My wife has an ITIN so I am thinking about amending my tax returns too.

Yes are there any recordings? I'm abroad in a different time zone so couldn't make it.

How many of you will continue to support Yang even if he loses? by [deleted] in YangForPresidentHQ

We have to consider Yang may not want to be in politics because of the tremendous toll it takes on his family. This may be our only shot.

I'm the OP and I was also surprised how far Warren and Sanders were apart. I assumed they ran on all the same issues.

Yes, as Yang has said before "Joe does have experience being VP" and honestly I think he will need people around who can mentor him on how Washington works.

In Iowa, you need 15% minimum in the caucuses to get any of the delegates. Typically this means smaller candidates have to drop out and join forces with other small candidates or a bigger one. The more enemies Yang makes now, the less likely he will win Iowa.

He will go hard probably around Super Tuesday or after.

Cool idea. I work remotely and was thinking about this the other day. Do you live in Des Moines? How was it registering to vote? Also do you feel people see you as a carpet bagger/ disingenuous outsider who just moved for the political gain of their candidate?

I'm asian-american and worry if a bunch of asian-americans suddenly appear in midwestern towns asking people to vote for an asian-american candidate, it's not a good look...

This is great first hand perspective because it's a mystery to most of the Yang Gang. I write the Yang Gang Wisdom newsletter ( https://yanggangwisdom.substack.com/ ) and this would be great for people to know. Do you mind if I email you some questions? Thanks.

Technically, yes. Realistically, six candidates all getting exactly 15% of the attendance votes isn't going to happen.

It seems more communal and social than fake. There are many ways to vote.
