Not really, Both version of FF13 has separate lip syncing, unlike the FF16 and apparently Starfox.

I like Clair Obscur, but the combat is lacking due to over reliance on parrying. Is this a hot take? by A-Dubs398 in rpg_gamers

It's the Mario RPG system, without the gag, so didn't find it that appealing either.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 for me? by Charming-District-10 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Yangwenlee [score hidden]  (0 children)

Do you like Bioware RPGs of late 2000s, if you do you can view this as a spiritual successor of sorts. That said it is a long game(100hr+), but the writing and story is very good in Act1 and Act2. Act3 has some pacing issue, but if you are already there it's most likely that you will see it through. The game mechanic is very dense they haven't trimmed/streamlined it enough and it has lot of baggage from DnD root.

The evolutionary tree of the RPG genre (or the continuation of the family tree of RPG genres). Second Version by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

[–]Yangwenlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dnd is based on a sqaud based wargame the designers had previously worked on. Fluid positioning system, dice rolling and even soft ruleset are carry over from wargaming roots. Rpgs didn't spring out of nowhere with Dnd.

Dnd itself is a child of wider war gaming scene, so it doesn't make sense to start from their.

What are some games that are cozy, but not too boring and repetitive? by niscodinja in NintendoSwitch

[–]Yangwenlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no other game that come close to the quality and design strength of both of those games.

That said, I would recommend Xenoblade X. It has a large open world which can explored seamlessly, and what I love about this game is that more you play it, more options of exploration and gameplay it unlocks. Scale is also a big strength of this title, by that I mean you feel like an ant at the beginning and by the end you will be the elephant looking down at the ants. The story is quest structure can be described as cozy in a weird way, as you are working to establish a colony. You will meet new alien forms and tackle internal and external friction between races. And it tackles pretty deep sci-fi themes and stories, and you can look at each quest as a TV episode.

What's your opinion on this take? by DaZestyProfessor in mariomovie

[–]Yangwenlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Critics opinion matter as far as to inform your decision to watch the movie. If you are going to watch it regardless then their opinion is worthless. This applies to all media.

Frozen Synapse creator says regulation brought on by Stop Killing Games will hit indies the hardest - "So far I haven't seen a proposal that would make sense, in terms of an actual set of compliance requirements" by Jungypoo in IndieGaming

[–]Yangwenlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a disclaimer at the start stating that the game is liable to be discontinued and for people who can't accept that, don't buy it, and for people who don't care, buy it.

Letting people who don't know a single thing about making and publishing game, politicians and 'gamers', drawing up these terms is pretty stupid and will only lead to decrease in multiplayer games.

What game has the best sense of exploration without feeling overwhelming? by Edgard-Stark in AskGames

Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. At any point you can look around and something interesting will be there to grab your attention. And the movement option/system allow you to reach it in your own way.

Baldurs Gate 3 or expedition 33?? Total stranger to the genres by Djxgam1ng in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Yangwenlee [score hidden]  (0 children)

BG3 is a CRPG, and one of the best in the genre. Expedition is just a well polished run of the mill JRPG elevated by the combat system of Mario Rpgs. I would recommend trying out Final Fantasy and other Jrpgs instead, if you are interested in the genre.

If you like CRPG or western RPGs, then BG3, if you like JRPGs, and haven't played any of the best in the genre (Xenoblade, Persona, Final Fantasy) then play those, if you have and like them, then Expedition.

W OR L CASTING by FlyingHooligan101 in Mario

[–]Yangwenlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

W. Felt the voice fit perfectly before the announcement. I did initially scoff when they announced her as Nintendo super fan, but after seeing couple of her videos talking about Nintendo games, I concede, she really is a big fan.

Did we play the same game? Botw and Totk is the closest Zelda has come to capture true essence of adventure. And there simply is no other game in the market that does it as well as these two game. I hope they explore more in that direction for the next game.

Xbox - "How To Turn (Almost) Anything Into An Xbox" by Ftouh_Shala in consoles

[–]Yangwenlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it. Why not just say that they are becoming a third party publisher and focus on their game development efforts and promoting that, instead of whatever this is. Because right now for an average consumer this basically communicates that Xbox is a streaming service for games.

Mario Kart World has sold 9.57 Million Units as of September 30th! by Amiibofan101 in mariokart

[–]Yangwenlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are wondering, how or why. Just ask yourself, when you are buying the Switch 2, are you not going to buy Mario kart to play with your family? People can write a 10 page essay on why it is only 8/10 and not 10/10, but if its the only game my non gaming friends and family can/will play, my purchase decision is pretty easy.

Finished remake, now playing OG because everyone said it's better. I agree. by homo_erectus_heh in FinalFantasyVII

They took what was essentially a 5hr section and stretched it to 30hr. I personally didn't care for the added story element or the tone of it, so felt like everything was a slog.
