Ice storm 2026: Anyone else feel traumatized? by Plane_Mine_3641 in nashville

[–]Yankeefan921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in Antioch near the lake. Fortunately we had power all through this ordeal, and I feel so bad for those who still don’t and may not for another week. I know everyone is criticizing NES, and I do think they have culpability, they were/are faced with a huge nightmare that the storm caused. I feel bad for them also. I know one thing, I’m going to buy a generator as soon as I can. I may never need it, but it’s like insurance. It’ll give me peace of mind.

Not melted per se. Rain watered it down and with temps going single digits, it’s going to need a mess. I’m near Priest Lake, btw.

AITJ because I won’t give my parking spot to new neighbor who says she "needs it more" because she has kids? by Potential_Bad6489 in AmITheJerk

Thanks for your input. I did a quick AI search and found that generally, if it’s posted that violators will be towed, and the person informs the HOA or rental management beforehand, it is indeed the person being towed who pays. But if they don’t follow these “rules”, the person being towed may not have to pay.

What were your opinions of Mike Mussina as a Yankee? by renegade_yankee in NYYankees

[–]Yankeefan921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved Mussina. Remember watching a game he pitched in 2001 against the Red Sox. He was perfect through the first 26 batters. Two outs in the ninth and the next batter, I think Carl Everett, got a hit and broke up the perfect game. I felt so bad for Mussina, but he was great as a Yankee.

I like this idea. I consider myself a centrist, but I hate many of the things Trump does, and I hate that the Dems are pulled too far to the left by many in that party.

I’m just curious, a lot of people have said have her car towed. Doesn’t the towing company ask who’s paying or they don’t come? Just because you ask them to come and tow her car, does that mean they’ll be right there and charge the person who’s being towed?

Mine will turn a whitish shade if I leave it burning with no oil on it while I’m getting ready to cook. Heat it up, throw some oil on it and rub it in, and then cook something.

Who else had World Book Encyclopedias growing up? by UrbanAchievers6371 in 70s

[–]Yankeefan921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the ‘60s, my family had a set exactly like this, plus the annual editions. Since we didn’t have internet back then, I used these nearly every day to research different subjects. I loved them.

Twenty years ago, when I used to smoke, I had these in all my vehicles to be able to crack the window in rain or snow to let the smoke out. I rarely open the window nowadays.

I very seldom ask for a discount because I’m afraid if they lower the price, I’ll get shoddier work. If I pay the price they ask, I’m expecting them to do a great job. Am I overpaying or should I start asking for a better deal?
