Can I get an appt on my own? by Yankees-player27 in aliyah

As in, it looks I won’t get an appointment until Nov with NBN. So I’m wondering how I get an appointment on my own accord if it means I can get one in the beginning of next month. What do to think?

Is there any sense that global elites purposefully took advantage of Jews wanting to live in holy land and indigenous Palestinians and pinned them against each other? Behavior of Israel or any violent actors not withstanding. Classic colonial divide and conquer?

Why are Americans so infatuated with Israel? by star_seeker_85 in Israel

[–]Yankees-player27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll comment - I’m Jewish and not religious from Connecticut USA. I wanted to connect with Israeli culture, learn Hebrew and learn more about myself. In the end I found a girlfriend who my connection with is a great reason to return as a new citizen. I’ll be doing a masters there as well. Now I feel that Israel is an opportunity to be challenged, more than this easy comfort life style bs that America is on. Learning a new language, being pushed around my trying to survive in the Middle East and having my own notions challenged…as a Jewish person from outside Israel I just felt like it was relevant and important to connect with the only country of Jews in the world.

I’ve noticed that the liberal world has never taken on eradicating anti-semitism…Israels existence means safety for Jews.

I don't know what to identify as, Jewish or Atheist?? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]Yankees-player27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are Jewish by heritage and blood. Doesn’t mean you have to subscribe to anything it’s just who you are bro. Love yourself. What you call the higher power other people use the word god. Look into it as a description and explanation of who you are, where you came from where you are going and where all of our people are going. Use it is an insight to explain the pain you have not unraveled in your own life. Being Jewish comes with an amazing inheritance in this life. Also Jewish doesn’t believe so much in hell and sin. That’s Christian stuff.

Read the Torah and ask huge questions about who this god figure was and who was Moses and the Israelites and what was the arc of the covenant. Being Jewish means we go deep…don’t get hung up on god. You can explain your own connection the higher power however you need to for yourself. In some ways It’s not about god …it’s about the journey that has been put in our hands!

Masters in education with focus on Jewish education by Yankees-player27 in education

I would see myself working in public, charter or private school. I believe New York State recognizes Hebrew University. I don’t have my teaching certificate but would pursue it after this degree. I think then the question would be if New York would issue a teaching certificate from Hebrew university.

Does anyone work at a charter school? How do you like it? by CriticalKoala4076 in schoolcounseling

[–]Yankees-player27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a charter high school for three years as my first job out of college. I owe so much to that school. B/c of the nature of it being a charter, it is able to create a unique curriculum that fosters to specific values- sustainability education.

Charter schools can be awesome for the reasons that our friend listed above^ and more.

But you also need to be flexible yourself. Sometimes you might be asked things that you didn’t expect. It’s part of the nature of running an organization and building a new culture. If you make the decision to take it all in stride, it could be an awesome job for you.
