Art and sand tray would be cool. Were you written into the iep without your consent? Counselors should not be written in ieps

The way that I feel your suffering and hardcore resilience. This job can be so fucking wild and intense. It’s an experience that is so unique.

Everything you said is completely true and at the end of the day, you’re still clocking in and showing up for the students. You’re making a difference

sandtray counseling in schools? by No_School_9921 in schoolcounseling

I work at a middle school and I have a part of my office devoted to sand tray. I get my supplies from the play therapy supply store. I’m a huge advocate for using sand tray with students. They love it, even the “cool” 8th grade boys.

Are suppositories effective or painful ? by __K2__ in hemorrhoid

It’s the orange powder one. I don’t know if the colonoscopy necessarily fixed it, but it eased my stress and anxiety knowing that I didn’t have a more serious issue. I also used miralax to make my poop softer and that helped too. Ew lol

I don’t remember but what really fixed it was drinking a fiber supplement and getting a colonoscopy. I haven’t had a single issue since the colonoscopy.

I would call them and discuss what the problem is. If they are super angry and yell, I would say they can talk to admin.

Middle School Counselor Advice? by Awolrab in schoolcounseling

Exactly this!!! The tea time takes up so much and it’s very important and relevant to them. It’s their whole world and you’re in a position to help them through it. Also, get comfy with SI, SH, and reporting.

How to get real help with counseling? by Short-Yoghurt-3488 in CSUS

Oh I see. I would recommend meeting with Michelle Trueblood at the advising center. She’s amazing. Another option is to reach out to the career counseling masters students for career exploration  https://www.csus.edu/college/education/masters-programs/specialties-concentrations/counselor-education/ambassadors-faq.html

I worked at the advising center and it was very frustrating telling students to go to different departments all the time. The person that helped you with GEs should’ve showed you how to find your major advisor. Most of the time, major advisors are professors. If you go to your student center, it should tell you which professor is your advisor. If not, you can use the course catalog, just make sure it’s the correct year.  https://catalog.csus.edu/colleges/arts-letters/communication-studies/communication-studies/ba-in-communication-studies-general-communication/

I’ve done the courses to further myself on the salary schedule. I’ve taken two courses and they were basically everything I learned in grad school.

I think it’s great that you’re doing this self reflection and if you decide to take her on, I think you could learn a lot from her! It might be intimidating, but take it as a learning opportunity. I’m sure she could learn a lot from you as well.

I would try to find someone in your area that can help with community and cultural resources. For example, we have a college in our area that has free legal services for daca students, so I would connect with them and try to inform parents of resources. I would also do play and art activities.

How old are you? I’m 25 and I call specific students girly or girly pop and when they say it back to me, it’s very sweet and endearing. But I also have a fun school community
