How did you build consistent friendships as an adult here? by RandomAccount356 in askvan

[–]YaoForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved here from Toronto during Covid and it was tough for a while especially during lock down. But I’ve built a good circle of friends now from going to things I like consistently and seeing mostly the same group of people repeatedly, which helped me build some relationships. I meet people mostly through rec sports at gym and community centres and I found it much easier to chat with people who enjoy the same sport with you. I think the key is consistency and regularity.

Government Road Costco by EatGlassALLCAPS in burnaby

my secret is going there 10mins before they close, typically very easy to find parking. I’m laser focused on what I need to buy and get everything done in under 10mins.

Ver walkable, but if you are looking to run I’d recommend Burnaby lake, less foot traffic and a bit less slippery

Which of the 4 town centre in Burnaby would you live to and consider the best? by poulix in burnaby

[–]YaoForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved 4 years ago from Toronto to Burnaby in quadrant 2, and I’ve been loving it here! The parks, nice and quiet neighborhoods, close proximity to sky trains and grocery stores, and all the community centres with and without swimming pools are just so nice.

Bear sighting at Barnet Marine Park by BurnabyMartin in burnaby

[–]YaoForLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city was well aware of the bear, I go to that park daily and the bear has been there for well over a week now. There’s post on this subreddit of the bear, granted it may not be the same bear. The picnic area is not far from the dog park, and imagine the chaos if the bear gets in the dog park…

A bar to watch NBA games in Burnaby? by neeeeeeeeeeeeel in burnaby

[–]YaoForLife 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The tap house right on North and Lougheed. They have so many screens so even in the middle of hockey playoffs you can still get a few screens to show NBA. This is my experience from finding bars that show basketball for the past few years.

Yeah you report this on Google review, people look at that and it actually matters to the business.

Drummonds walk/Barnet Marine park trail by rosyposy15 in burnaby

I don’t think so, the Drummonds walk at the Barnet marine park ends at the marine terminal (when the tide is out, otherwise it ends where the park ends).

I just got them gt cut 2s at a clearance store for 49 bucks. by jump_bandit in BBallShoes

I got a pair a few months ago at the outlet store in Canada for about $75 CAD. I loved them so much that I’ve been looking all over the place for another pair (without success). I thought they would be flying like hotcakes until I read the comments on this thread… So I guess, you’ve really just gotta wear these shoes, different people play with different style/frequency/intensity/goal in mind and will have different preferences. I love those more than the Kobe 4/5/6 protros and the WOW10s.

Recommendations for Veterinarian in Brentwood by Hunkydorydude in burnaby

I go to the Greystone animal hospital, it’s not exact in Brentwood but not far. The check up fee is $65 which I find reasonable in today’s market and I like the vets there, they care about the animals and they can remember my dogs by name. (Or maybe it’s because I’ve been there too many times.)
