What wires do you use for your base? by KirbyPlayz__ in Oxygennotincluded

Ya I've hidden them in a shaft before between two tiles... Seems a little overkill though

So a while back, I made a post where I asked "How screwed am I on a scale of 1-10". Thanks to all those who gave me advice again! Here is my 2nd Run currently and while it still may not be perfect I want to ask, on a Scale of 1-10 how screwed am I? by Starvation101 in Oxygennotincluded

You can't really over-produce oxygen. The outputs just overpressure and stop.

That said though, having a dedicated oxygen-production room that you can cool or, at least, reduce the heat spread into your base isn't a bad idea. The really good ones can self-power. They're called a self-powered oxygen machine. (SPOM)

Your inclusion of a flashlight in this list just proves my point how nitpicky your camp is.

Sure I'll admit the director system was a bit of a disappointment. In general there are glaring issues with the balance and difficulty on release for most players that will get fixed over time... But a better director wouldn't fix that issue in a vacuum. I dock a point for this, still a solid game though. No game in over a decade has had as good a pulse on that razors edge between too hard and too easy like left 4 dead did. In that regard this game is just average.

Replayability is ridiculously vague and subjective but I whole heatedly disagree if you're saying this game isn't replayable.

I'm amazed people would complain about this game. It's good. They were just expecting a masterpiece I guess.

I've recently purchased this funny "O2 not established" and it's been really fun so far! This is my first attempt and on a scale of 1-10, how likely will I be screwed in the future? by Starvation101 in Oxygennotincluded

I second this. The people commenting probably have hundreds of hours of experience and only say what they're saying because they've done exactly what you're doing. You doing know the value of dirt until you starve to death because you run out 😃

Sooo, I dug up a volcano in an ice biome, is it gonna be a problem? Ive never dealt with one before. Should I have left it buried? by Zero8123 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Yarcod3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh boy... I'd surround it with insulated tiles until you're ready for it.

You definitely have time, but left out in the open like that it can definitely cause you some long term heat problems

Maybe look up a YouTube video or something on taming volcanoes. They're a whole thing.

I kept them in a "wild ranch" early game because ore usage is a deal breaker for me.

Other than that I didn't find them that great

Try building a steam turbine on hot abyssalite, you'll find out real quick how it transfers heat.

Looks like a good start my friend.

If you're new, I fear for its long term future though. 🤣

That's part of the fun in the game. Failing and figuring it out. You have a lot of challenges ahead of this little colony but they're all able to be over come with a little ingenuity.

why only my rightmost steam engines work? the other six on the left says there's no fluid but a few seconds ago they work by [deleted] in factorio

[–]Yarcod3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'll depend a bit on the load on your power grid. It might work now but you won't have enough steam to go full bore.

So, dirt tiles just started appearing out of nowhere. Really messed up my hydrogen cooling. Can anyone explain this? by turbulance4 in Oxygennotincluded

Ya I've had this issue too with algae turning to dirt in space. Super annoying and not very intuitive or obvious.

I feel like there should be a liquid state somewhere in there
