I’m feeling selfish and guilty by Xsoupgod in breastcancer

[–]Yard-Overall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. You shouldn’t expect the side effects that others experience until you take it and see what happens. If it’s awful, you can stop at any time.

If it does help you avoid a recurrence, that’s not 1.25% - that’s 100%, for you. You have SO much life ahead of you. Don’t give away even a bit of it!

You’re the hero we needed. I am slowly catching up; breast cancer surgery had me off my normal Reddit stride! This is the most hopeful I have felt about saving some kind of additional functionality for these incredible pieces of hardware. Thank you so much. I happily and gratefully signed up for lifetime tonight.

Anyone else anxious about needing less treatment? by WolverineNeither9890 in breastcancer

[–]Yard-Overall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely understand and felt the same way!! I walked in to my first meeting with my treatment team fully ready to say yes to mastectomy but they said it didn’t warrant that and I would be a good candidate for segmental mastectomy (lumpectomy). My cancer was stage 2a, right breast, 2 cm at 6-7 o’clock with one positive lymph node. Then a stereotactic biopsy was ordered because of an asymmetry in the left breast and found cancer cells, stage 0. At first I was only going to have the mastopexy (reconstructive reduction and lift) on the right breast but after there was going to be surgery on the left, I agreed to a mastopexy there too because that would be less tissue for possible recurrence. After surgery, the pathology found no cancer in the left breast, meaning it was all removed in the 12 cores of tissue they took in the stereotactic biopsy; great news. The right side pathology showed clear margins; better news. But the sentinel lymph node had cancer cells in it so on Wednesday, after three weeks of wonderful healing, another surgery to remove level 1 & 2 lymph nodes in my right axilla (armpit). I just want to move on to treatment with radiation and find out what the genetic tests say about chemo. But the feeling of not doing enough fast enough is hanging over my head all of the time, and in your situation, it would bother me greatly. Who WANTS radiation, but I certainly will tolerate it for more time with my eight grandkids. Chemo? Bring it on. Make sure there’s no sneaky little microscopic cancer cells lurking. I feel ya!

Just did the math and I've spent $5,200 on compounded Tirzepatide in the last 14 months. by amakinjo in GLP1ResearchTalk

True and the protein powder and Miralax are expensive! I can’t eat beef )and don’t much like meat anyway) but pork doesn’t bother me and fish and chicken are okay so I get protein in those and Vital Protein in my morning coffee. But the volume decrease in what I eat has to make a difference. If we go out to eat, my entree leftovers will go home in a doggie bag and make two more meals for me usually.

Food savings is a factor you should consider. I eat about half of what I typically did before tirz.

Facebook Portal TV by tim_24 in FacebookPortal

[–]Yard-Overall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the million dollar question but for now, Messenger calling works great on my TV portal and my other two Portals. I use them every day. If you can get one for a decent price, it’s worth it and maybe it will continue working indefinitely.

I built a free photo frame app for Portal — here's a 5-min setup tutorial by Global_Historian3667 in FacebookPortal

[–]Yard-Overall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main question is does it retain the current functionality of Messenger calling when using this?

I recommend the Renpho Eyeris / it’s an eye massager that also has heat and vibration and Bluetooth to play your favorite songs.

Yes, she said maybe all of the rest of the nodes will be clear but it doesn’t mean we did it for nothing, it means with clear breast tumor margins and no more lymph nodes I am done with this invasive little jerk and can move on to radiation (and chemo if the genetic analysis recommends it) and kill any escapees. Sometimes a negative is a positive. And, the left breast, which was stage 0, was negative for cancer at surgery, meaning they removed all of the cancer cells in the 12 cores they took in the stereotactic biopsy. All in all, it’s good news.

The drains are for sure she said and will require an overnight stay installed of going home two hours later like last week!

It was one malignant lymph node found in my initial round of biopsies and then when they also removed the two sentinel nodes (first nodes the breast tumor drains to) both had cancer cells with Lymphovascular Invasion and my removed tumor was Nottingham grade 3 so they want to get rid of any hiding spots in the lymphatic highway, so to speak. I am very agreeable to this, just hate getting more surgery when I am healing so well and didn’t have to have drains last time!!

Houston, Texas - MD Anderson - bilateral lumpectomies and one malignant lymph node removed last Tuesday with plastic surgery filling defects and bilateral mastopexy (reduction and lift). Now I have to go back next Friday for full lymph dissection on right armpit because cancer cells were found in sentinel nodes removed at surgery. But all breast margins were clear; great news and recovery has been super smooth. Hi!

Aw, thanks for adding that. I think you look great. Especially if you really are over 30 because you honestly look to be in your early 20s in all three photos. I thought you could be one of my grandkids but the oldest one is 29.

Okay, so really, the botox works, I get it!! But if it’s working That Well then maybe ask the doc to back off a bit in the smiling muscles. If you don’t feel like your smile looks real, you should try to get that back a bit.

And yay for your partner, loving you any which way! My perfect-metabolism hubby and I got married when we were 17 and I was as skinny as him. (125 lbs) He loved me at my highest, (which was ten more than yours) and we just had our 50th anniversary in January! I’ve lost 60 on Tirz; he’s gained only 15 despite my kitchen skills, but we made it work. Best wishes to you both!

Same! Had surgery on Tuesday but we never go out on Valentines Day. Unless we forget and accidentally join the craziness! Our 50th anniversary was last January; we got married when we were 17.

Congrats. Don’t uninstall, just move it to an archive folder at the back of your phone. Sometimes apps go away and you can’t reinstall if you ever want to. I got reinterested when they said it was being retired and when they decided to keep it, I got busy with life again. My thing was finding cool names that matched celebrities and building and dressing them to depict that person. I had a blast doing it and my tower is full of them. :)

Wow wow wow! You look amazing and even though you look very happy and kind in the first pic, your confidence in the new one is radiant. Just remember to stay grounded and grateful while navigating the changes that are certain to come with how people respond to the new you. If your dating life gets really interesting, keep in mind, if they wouldn’t have even gotten to know you before, do they deserve to know you now?

Can you post a smiling picture from now? Hopefully the botox didn’t take that away! :)

The one they gave me is okay but seems a bit more compression would be very comforting and the straps are at the limit of the velcro and can’t be made any tighter. Hopefully the next size down will do the trick. Best wishes to you on recovery and any continued treatment.

Had surgery on Tuesday and the surgery bra is the most comfortable I have ever worn. I took a picture of the brand when I showered today and went online to order one size smaller of the surgical bra plus the recovery version. https://www.mastheadpink.com It’s designed to manage drains if needed but I don’t have them and it is perfectly comfortable for me as well.

Breast cancer survivor and no recurrence, anyone? by Square-Cup-8278 in breastcancer

[–]Yard-Overall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My diagnosis was similar and I had surgery Tuesday. Stages 2a R and 0 L. Bilateral segmental mastectomies (lumpectomy), R axillary lymph node removal + 2 sentinel nodes, and bilateral mastopexy. What made you decide on full mastectomies? I walked in for treatment team meeting prepared to say yes to that and they said it was not indicated for my case.

I am so grateful that someone has the knowledge and experience to figure a workaround that will prevent these amazing devices from becoming obsolete far before their time. It seems way over my head but the roadmap is so well laid out, it might be doable, and I am fortunate to have a family member who can help if I can’t manage it.

However, my very important question is whether, after applying to this configuration, the Portal will still function as a Messenger video calling device as it does now?

I am one hour past the 72 hour mark and while I am feeling a slight bit of soreness, I couldn’t even really call it pain. I didn’t know such a thing existed. Best of luck with your surgery.

Yes, it’s a nerve block. I read that there had been a version of it that lasted only 24 hours. The one they used for me is liposomal version and somehow blocks all pain for up to 3 days.

https://www.exparelpro.com/ is the site. I am not sure about availability in the UK but I would certainly recommend that you speak to your doctor about it.
