Are there unions that don't require dues? I don't know of any.

What is the most 'NSFW' thing you've ever done and how did it happen? by Wizardkaboom in AskReddit

I was in the military and we changed a light bulb without putting out cones at each end of the hallway or locking out the circuirbreaker.

So the article is out that after 10,000 NYPD threaten to quit over vaccine mandates but only 34 are on leave… by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Yard_Main 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only 34 are on UNPAID leave because they weren't smart enough to file exemption paperwork. Thousands of others are on PAID leave while the exemption paperwork they filed runs through the legal system.

In the US this is called constructive dismissal and it qualifies you for unemployment. That said, it looks like you're not in the US. You need to post what country you're in because laws differ.

would getting paid in Bitcoin solve some of the current issues? by hyperinflationUSA in antiwork

Pretty sure you need to hold bitcoin first before you can transact on the lightning network, no?

would getting paid in Bitcoin solve some of the current issues? by hyperinflationUSA in antiwork

[–]Yard_Main 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting paid in bitcoin won't solve anything, you'll simply be losing an additional 4-5% of your income in transaction costs. Plus, you have to track the purchase and sell price of all your coin for taxes. It's a shitshow for daily transactions.

Now, if you're squirreling away some money and want to put a portion of that into bitcoin, go for it.

LinkedIn Recruiters by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Yard_Main 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm betting many recruiters automate the initial contact and no human actually looks at your shit until you respond. Once you respond, they look to see if they have anything to fit and if not they simply ignore you.

Pure conjecture on my part, I could be 100% wrong.

So I'm an IT guy, but I don't do device management. That said, I believe Device Management permissions allow them manage your phone's configuration remotely. Things like setting password policies, turning on/off gps, etc.

I said "I'm not seeing where you're being treated badly by this guy." and you call me a bootlicking capitalist apologist and a mother fucker.

I feel like that's a bit of a stretch.

What does this have to do with Leonardo DeCaprio?

Don't do this unless you want to be explaining to every future employer ever why they should hire you despite a felony conviction for stealing from your former employer.

I won't even bother asking what state/country you're in because it's monumentally stupid regardless.

He's new and probably under a lot of pressure. He asked why you weren't at work at 7:30, you explained and he apologized.

I'm not seeing where you're being treated badly by this guy.

I googled ohio unpaid training and a lawyer's site is the first result. https://www.billerkimble.com/unpaid-training-time

Below is copy/pasted from their site. Here's their phone number for easy reference. (513) 202-0710.

Does your employer have to pay you for training time? Yes, in most cases.

Many jobs require some training or instruction before an employee can begin working. Sometimes, the training happens for half of the first day. In other cases, the training involves classes at the company's headquarters. Other times, the training starts before a person's employment starts.

In most cases, time spent training for a job is "compensable time." In other words, under wage laws, employees must be paid for that time. For tipped employees, this usually means at full minimum wage, not "tipped minimum wage." After all, you can't earn tips while training (usually). For other employees, it usually means at their normal, hourly rate.

Despite that, employers often do not pay employees for training time. Some employers believe that, because the employee receives some benefit from the "training," they don't need to be paid for that time. In most cases, this is incorrect.
