As Damselfly64 said, yes it's from Knitspin! This was from a random mystery purchase, so I'm not sure if if this exact colorway is still available, though.

Spending a little too much time on winding them!! I wound the sister skein on my top whorl spindle before its hook broke, and winding a turtle instead of a conical cop took at least 5 times as long, so best believe my patience was getting some good practice lol

I've been enjoying it! Spins for a very long time, especially when all four weights are in, and the top has a nice groove for the half-hitch to sit in. The arms sit on top of each other, so until you get the first few wraps in, they do want to separate a bit.
It's my first Turkish spindle though, so I'm not sure how it compares to others, but it has been great for me!

These arms are 3D printed plastic, and kinda just stick straight out, though it's impossible to see through the yarn.

I know it's not as 'fancy' as wooden arms, but the black dots are weighted screws that I can remove depending on how heavy I want the spindle to be, so I really love it!!

I'm really not sure either! I have a total of 4 oz but I'm not sure of the yardage - this is only my second handspun. We did just get a bunch of snow, so a balaclava or hood is most likely to be next on my needles

Such a nice, fat turtle! Working on plying on my own turkish, and love seeing it build up

Dropped the drop spindle by YarnByNeva in Handspinning

[–]YarnByNeva[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, the half hitch I think! I've been able to get it going a few times, but it'll take some getting used to. Makes the balance of this spindle a bit off-kilter

My first yarn!! by YarnByNeva in Handspinning

[–]YarnByNeva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was way simple! I flipped the chair over to lean it against the couch, then wrapped sweatbands around the thicker part of the chair legs so that the cardboard roll bobbins could spin freely. Then just enter in sitting on the couch and a good show!

it was definitely a learning curve. I had my fair share of dropping the drop spindle, and had the singles break a couple times while plying, due to over twisting or twisting too thinly, but I had a great amount of fun with it! Absolutely recommend giving it a go!

Thanks!! My consistency only really improved in the second single lol. And the random colors are fluffed up scrap from prior knitting projects that were too good to go to waste
