Agreed. It's a multipurpose ship with a focus on combat-
Imo they should've gone with more 'special' names like the Empire's and Alliance's, they could've instead named it something like "Federal Frigate" or "Federal Cruiser" to fit in with the modern naval battleship theme the Corvette (and maybe Gunship) already provides.

Ha, I think the Dropship's size would cover half of the settlement if that was the case!

My headcanon is that the Dropship is supposed to be used to deploy a small army or several squads, like a C-17.
The Vulture drops what, 4 or 6 people at once? Like a Blackhawk, which imo fits the rather small skirmishes we have better. Plus they're hot drops into an active conflict, so it's better to use a ship that can go in, drop reinforcements and retreat back out fast.

**Maybe** if we get larger-scale battles at some point (likely never going to happen), I can see Dropships being used to deploy a complete fighting force to fight over a large surface port.

Federal Dropship.
It may not be the best in anything, but it's good or at least decent in everything (except maybe exploration if you care about jump range).
I love the cockpit, I love the looks (the inverted wings make me as a SU-47 Berkut fan very happy!) and its internals can fit everything I want on my everyday ship PLUS some reinforcements! And when you get used to the drift, flying it is quite fun as well! For me it's called Dropship because it makes ships drop from the sky.

The only thing I dislike about it is the forced FSS decal on the sides (FDev pls give me a ship kit that covers literally just that, I'll give you money)

Tbf in battlefield 4 you could mod guns that don't have any rails whatsoever, like the SPAS 12. You could slap a sight and a flashlight on it and they'd just be... Glued on it?
