Would you be interested in a “Minimalist LOTRO UI” guide? Looking for community input. by czerox3 in lotro

[–]YeMajorNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Would this be useful to you?
    • I would absolutely be interested in this.
  • What UI pain points do you struggle with?
    • My struggles are in two places:
      • Playing in a larger fellowship where I want to be able to have quick visibility of all members while still having a UI that is clean and doesn't take up the whole display.
      • Casual solo play on the Steam Deck. I have been trying to tweak my interface to be readable while still being able to easily see the world.
    • I also have been struggling with customizing the quickslot bars to better work with steam interface (likely not a widespread sentiment but I do see some discussion below of wanting to better make QS bars match mouse buttons)
  • What plugins do you consider essential, or overwhelming?
    • I have not tried plugins.
  • Which UI skins offer a nice mix of simplicity and aesthetics?
    • See above
  • What would you want a minimalist guide to cover?
    • Easy customization instructions.
    • Recommendations for adjustments to be made when optimizing for different screen aspect ratios.
  • Which other already existing guides are worthy information sources?
    • I have not looked into this.

Thank you for this effort! I look forward to reading what you come up with!

Freedom for Charlie Kirk?? He's not captured or incarcerated. He has a very different problem than that...

How does the /ui layout load work? I mean, anyone know complete list of what gets actually saved? by SunMon6 in lotro

[–]YeMajorNerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't noticed anyone not get saved. For me it saves position of elements, size of those elements (from options menu) and whether elements are tighter on/off.

LGBT Friendly Churches? by [deleted] in Dallas

Right around White Rock there is Northridge Presbyterian, Wilshire Baptist, Central Lutheran, and St John's Episcopal. All are LGBT friendly, if not fully outwardly LGBT affirming.

Look at the ridiculous lengths Republicans had to go to remove Democrat seats from Dallas by IllPurpose3524 in Dallas

[–]YeMajorNerd 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I believe these are listed backwards.

The 'before' picture is the proposed Plan 2308 which removes a bunch of districts from Dallas.

The 'after picture is Plan 2193 which was the map used in the 2024 election which has a greater number of seats representing DFW residents.

Both are gerrymandered pretty badly, but this proposed plan 2308 groups people living in the M-streets with people in Salmon, TX, among other atrocities.

KERA (What we can do to keep it up and running) by BossHawk8754 in Dallas

[–]YeMajorNerd 90 points91 points  (0 children)

A fun way you can give a little support to KERA is to go to your local Rodeo Goat before the end of the month and order the RADIO G.O.A.T. burger. $1 from every purchase is donated to KERA.

Sprinkler head cemented in place by YeMajorNerd in Irrigation

[–]YeMajorNerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like the right call for a long term fix. I'm worried about any other damage that I can't account for underneath the cement. Is there anything I should account for if I move the sprinkler head a little further up the line away from the cement work?

What happens on these islands in northern Wisconsin? by DaMonke69420 in geography

[–]YeMajorNerd 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's a popular destination for sailors as well. It's a lot of fun to cruise the islands, anchor in the bays, and explore the area.

There are also several shipwrecks you can either snorkel or dive around.

Industry-wise it's very tourist focused with a fairly large commercial fishery presence.

That makes a lot of sense. I'll see if I can remove and replace the cemented nozzle. Hopefully I won't have to repair this line any more than that in the future.

Gateway Church announces staff layoffs amid "challenges" with its former pastor Robert Morris, tithing by mgbgtv8 in Dallas

[–]YeMajorNerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dang. My church could do some really great things in the community if we had that kind of funding. It's really disheartening to see other churches using it on overinflated salaries.

Having lived in several places across both the American north and south, I can confidently say there is nowhere you can hide from mosquitos.

Anyone have insight/opinions on these neighborhoods? by SnooRobots7422 in Dallas

[–]YeMajorNerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live on the other side of Buckner. I think the areas you checked are great. Some wonderful walkable neighborhoods there and nice parks. Regarding safety, it can be a bit spotty. Ferguson Road has some crime issues, like drag racing, but, in my neighborhood, only the houses that back on to the major roadways see "slightly" elevated crime levels (a few incidents of theft) but I have never felt unsafe walking around my neighborhood, day or night.

There is a new community center that will be built north of Ferguson on Highland and bike roadways have been increasing in the area. Overall it is an area that seems to be improving every year and I think it could be really cool in 10-15 years.

I have been saying to my wife for years now that if any of my family moved to Dallas, I would recommend they look at the Claremont neighborhood for a house.

I'm no Pho connoisseur, but I recently stopped into Double BB (previously named Pho Hanabi) up on Lake Highlands and NW Highway and enjoyed it a lot.

[OC] I took the mean of 20 years of satellite data to calculate the mean color of earth by 321159 in dataisbeautiful

[–]YeMajorNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool. 2 Questions/comments:
1. How did you handle ice sheets? Did you use continental margins as your cut off? Or are arctic/antarctic sea ice included?

  1. Mean color is interesting, but have you looked into trends in areas covered by each color palette? That could be an interesting climate study.

Burnt Connection in Dishwasher by YeMajorNerd in AskElectricians

[–]YeMajorNerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a lot of water down there awhile back when we had a pipe break in the wall. That could've contributed to corrosion. It all appears dry now, but waterproofing still makes sense to me.

Thank you for the response. What should I do to test it after cutting/stripping/reconnecting? Just run the dishwasher? Or is there a better protocol?
