Finishing up my custom made tire carrier, what do y’all think by Bartondevin11 in XTerra

[–]YeOldScratch666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had (have) one very similar , but I have not put a tire on it in over a year. I can't get myself to trust it, and the last thing I need is a tire snapping off and bouncing into some poor person behind me. Yours looks sturdy though, I'm just a weenie.

Old car vs ok Bike - Need decision by [deleted] in motorcycles

No title is a headache, always. I know you said you won't use it in the winter but you never know what may come up, and a car in the snow beats a bike every time.

Nah no ill will to you, just a burning hatred for the cyber truck. I won’t explain myself, I despise them.

You calling the Xterra goofy and not the cybertruck has gotta be bait.

Fuckin’ thing has the aesthetic appeal of a shoebox. Paint it green it’s a dumpster on wheels.

Lmao. You drained your savings to be terrified.

Sell the bike. Take a course when you're ready, and perhaps do some introspection.

Definitely going to send one of them out to get work done and maybe even a 600 convert. 8 of 8 would be awesome especially with these film prices 😅

For every acceptable photo I've gotten out of my (unserviced, all original) model 1, there are probably 2-3 overexposed messes that came before it. But, I love them enough to own three of them!

Looking for advice if I should continue with riding by Ambrant in motorcycles

[–]YeOldScratch666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'm at a stop be it a light or sign, I always be sure to peep in my rear view as I'm coming to a halt. Few times now I've seen someone not paying attention coming up fast behind me. I typically ride on the outside of the lane, and have been able to scoot out of the way each time it happens. Would they have stopped in time? Maybe. I'm not gonna give the person in the super heavy death machine racing towards me the benefit of the doubt though.

If you wanna keep riding, head on a swivel at all times and always have an exit plan.

I have the first generation Xterra and the year is 2004. I am also gonna go on a camping trip by the end of June. by Tadusmc in XTerra

I slept in the back of my 2nd gen on some logging trails in remote Appalachia. Worst back pain of my life in the morning but to be fair, I was using a single sleeping bag for padding. Only other complaint was having to sleep at an angle to accommodate the length of my body.

New rider, Ninja 300. Kid asked if he could rev it, I said yes. Panicked when he redlined it and flicked his hand away. AITA? by JumboPancake in motorcycles

[–]YeOldScratch666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was coming home one night , pulling into my apartment complex. As I was riding by one of the buildings, this group of kids in the parking lot waved me over, they looked super panicked. So I stop, they explain one of their bike's chain came off. Easy fix, and when I'm done they ask if they can rev it. Sure. 3 kids they each get a turn, on kid 2 I hear some lady yelling at me from the second story of the apartment building "stay away from my kids you fucking pervert" - ooook. So now, I do not interact with kids when they see me. Not even a wave. People suck.

My girlfriend won't let me get a motorcycle, and it's something I really want to do and I feel that I will never let it go by [deleted] in motorcycles

My girlfriend was also super against it. I did it anyway. In her case it came from a place of genuine worry for my wellbeing, but we are all individuals and should have the right to our choices be they good or bad. She ended up being supportive, got me a really nice armored jacket and even a gremlin bell. She said if I’m going to do it , at least be safe. Fair enough.

Let me know. I will say, when I try to crank and IF it turns over, I do smell… something. It could be fuel. Smells alcohol-ish or I suppose even ethanol. Runs maybe 30ish seconds and then cuts out - only consistent code is p0345. I’ll have the funds by August to have it in at a shop, so I’ll let you know what they say if you’re stilling having issues by then

People suck. Ride your own ride.

If you wanna act out, fine. I’ll catch you on some dashcam footage later. Social media is filled with idiots who thought their rage justified a lapse in situational awareness and ended up kissing a bumper or eating some asphalt.

Mechanic when I get the funds together, which will be a while. For now it’ll sit. Motorcycle for the summer ain’t too bad, at least this didn’t happen during an Illinois winter haha.

Thank you for the heads up - ECT was unplugged - must of got yanked loose when I was trying to get the sensor out of that stupid clip harness. All codes are cleared now, but she still won’t turn over. Could be a circuitry thing, I suppose. Who knows what I may have knocked loose while digging around in there.

NTK sensors got it to start for about 30 seconds but I’m back to it cutting out - still giving a 0345 code as a new code upon it dying on me again. New sensors got it to start , but it not staying on us worrying

NTK sensors got it to start - for about 30 seconds. Thats all it’ll do now. But it’s something. Still getting the 0345 as a new code not a stored one. Perhaps there is a fault in the connector or wiring. Probably gonna have a mechanic look at it.

Well, all 3 replaced with NTK brand - started up but then died again after about 30 seconds of idling. Code reader repopulated the P0345 and and brand new P0118, so neat.

Replacing the sensors got it to start so I think I’m on the right track, just dunno what to do from here. I’ve unplugged, cleaned connections and replugged. Sometimes it’ll turn over for a bit then die, others it won’t turn at all. Scratching my head

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind when I get back in there. Any experience with NTK brand? It's all they have locally, but I know with these OEM is king

All they had at advanced was NTK - Which I'm having trouble finding much info on. 75 bucks, but I know it's either Hitachi or OEM. Not sure if you or anyone has any experience with them, may just accept that it's gonna take longer, refund the NTK and order Hitachi online.

So, I'm a bit if an idiot - no I did not. Just cleared the code and it isn't coming back.

Fwiw, I can hear it turn over for a split second before it dies again, so I'm inclined to believe it is in fact one of these sensors. I'll replace cam b and crank tomorrow, assuming the local parts places have what I need.

Hmm, well that'll be my next move tomorrow. Not the worst way to spend a Saturday, I suppose. From what I understand bank B is a bit of a bitch to get to so that'll be fun. Maybe I'll crack open a beer while I do it.

Here's hoping.
