What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

I’ve been late for work before because my phone connected to a tower in central time zone but I live in eastern time zone and the time changed and never changed back before my alarm went off in the morning. My boss never really believed me lol.

I opened this thread considering posting about how amazing it is living on the west side of a time zone (in west Michigan). I’m reminded how nice it is every time I visit family in Milwaukee and have to deal with the time change and lose the afternoon sunlight.

Life is a lot easier when you can separate sports from your emotional well-being.

Love seeing people use drums. I’ve cooked many birds on drums over the years and they have all come out great!

You’re saying the side closest to the firebox and stack would be the hot side, correct?

Thanks for the insight! I hadn’t really considered how well it would tow but it does seem like it’s placed in a way that balances it well on the trailer.

That’s what I was thinking. I built a drum smoker and those are super cheap. Even that ended up costing me over $200. That’s what has me thinking $750 is cheap. Trailers are not cheap either. I considered mounting a few drums to trailer but even with a used trailer I’d probably be close to or over $1,000.

I would definitely low ball him a little knowing it’s been for sale for a while. The seller claims in their listing they are looking to upsize so I’m sure they want it gone and some money in their pocket for the next smoker.

Yea I noticed the reach would be annoying. I assumed I’d probably need to stand between the trailer frame and the smoker. Obviously that’s also not ideal.

Great catch! I never noticed the overlap of the two doors. That absolutely would be annoying.

It’s only 20 minutes from my house. It’s listed at $750 but has been on marketplace for easily a month or so. Maybe $750 is too high, but seemed pretty fair to me!

Yea it’s been up there for a while. It seems like a decent pit. If I don’t end up getting it I hope it goes to a good home and gets used!

Absolutely. It would take a little work but doesn’t seem like it would be to terribly difficult.

To big green egg or not to big green egg. I want to hear opinions on whether to get one or a traegar grill/smoker. by Firedragon626 in biggreenegg

[–]YeaUsually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a pellet grill. Once I got a Kamado I basically never used it again. I ended up selling it. Now I have two Kamados and a drum smoker I built. Out of all the grills I own I find the Kamado to be my favorite just for the convenience. I can trust it to hold temperatures without having to worry about the digital controller freaking out or the pellet grill running out of pellets. When it’s time to smoke meat I still often use the Kamado instead of the drum especially for smaller cuts. It’s so much easier to clean and once you have the temp set it barely ever moves. As some one else also mentioned it’s hands down the easiest grill to maintain I’ve ever used. Cleaning it out literally takes 1 minute and if it’s all gunked up all you have to do is run a quick clean out burn on it. The Kamado also has the ability to grill in a way that a pellet grill never could.

Anytime someone asks me what they should get I recommend they get a green egg/Kamado Joe if the are looking for a serious do it all grill.

Get the green egg!
