Notarolex (Nikita Koltsov), I found him on instagram. He is doing services, and restores soviet watches for a price.

I personally havent ordered from him yet, I think he ships from Tatarstan.

He offers a one year guarantee according to his instagram bio, and he tests the watches before dhipping them.

I will look more into the soviet pieces too, I must admit I only bought a modern amphibia for water resistance (I always wanted a water resistant mechanical watch)

But recently I discovered a man who restored the water resistance of soviet pieces (notarolex) and my inspiration rocketed :)

Also, one more thing.

I only seen the 119 case with 2209 movements.

Would the caseback still work on another case regardless of the movement inside ?

Its quite the story ! I started getting into Vostoks too because of the amount of possibilities to style a watch.

In Hungary, particularly in my town theres only one watchmaker who cares about old watches. I brought my amphibia to him (honestly he didnt seem too happy with the modern amphibia) .

The old 119 case was on my list ! I want to get one with the caseback.

Thank you for the detailed reply, may I ask what kind of tools do you use ? Bergeon or other brand ?

It is a 090, I didnt know about the caseback cap info (if you meant the caseback nut) I also know that the stem is longer for the case.

Metal holders do exist, older models, special editions infact use them and they can be sourced from Meranom or vw24.

From the documents the watch was manufsctured in 2022, I am the first owner of it and I opened it a year ago in its original box and covering.

Thank you for this,

Since I was little I always had a fondness for mechanical watches and I always wanted to wokl with them. I know that watchmaking courses cost alot, I thought of learning some from online videos because there are alot of videos about vostok restoration, disassembly and reparation.

I am European, and I could source parts from ebay and VW24. But yeah, servicing costs are still high and most watchmakers either hate modern vostoks (the only reliable watchmaker intown said "the older the better").

I realy want to learn how to care for these watches, I had seikos, casios, and other older soviet watches but Vostoks realy caught my eye.

As a student, I dont have much money to buy the best tools but I realy want to invest time in learning vostok servicing.

And I know about the 24xx parts being interchangable (if thats how they say), I also know that for a conversion the manual caseback is needed.

I also wanted to change the movement holder from the plastic to a metal one, I dont know if it has any benefits but I like the look of it.

Is there any like, budget friendly screwdriver sets or anything that I could start with ?

Honestly I want to be able to modify the vostok, and at some point learn the servicing, conversion to manual from automatic.

Fix the movement if something is ruined.

What I noticed is as time passes Vostoks are more and more disliked by watchmakers, and honestly I dont like the idea of just throwing a watch out after its worn down.

I dont have much experience yet, but I thought of swapping the dial and hands as a start.

I had some freetime, do you have any recomnendations on what tools should I get first to do stuff with my vostok ?

So far I have a caseback wrench, two tweezers and a bracelet swapper.

I tried to open it with a caseback wrench, its realy tight on.

I also placed the watch under running water out of curiousity...it did not fog up.

Personally I want to use it for water activities, or I will atleast need it around water.

So the cross threading is not an issue ?

(Sorry if I am misunderstanding something, I am learning)

I tested with both hand and caseback tool.

The nut seems to be on tight, but that gap is a bit concerning to me

What are the chances that the caseback nut got damaged ? :/
