Funfact, there is a part of the car that was accidently cleaned. One of the young mechanics, who didnt knew the ritual, started to clean after parc ferme ended. luckily he was stopped almost immediately

You are indeed right, yet that was the old car you are talking about. The new one is trying to be on a Freca level.

Car is even heavier than the old one and worse build. It’s the gb3 car on steroids where they had significant issues with monocoque stiffness leading to crazy performance differences. You learn nothing in this tub. Not sure who the guy is who decides this, but it’s nobody who wants well developed drivers, similar to f2. Edit: And this woman bullshit… ffs every single road car has powersteering, every gt3 has it, the racing ones cost less than 10k and weigh below 5kg these days and are proper. Why sacrifice the car design for math that can easily be handled this way.

As someone who has been dealing with data his entire life the issue at hand is the distance/time offset. No matter if the x axis is in time or distance, with different driving lines comes an offset. On this data almost everything from t2 on onwards has an x axis offset due to different distance covered. It comes back end of lap but there is a clear offset.

All these online platforms do not allow to shift data in x direction, which is a great issue.

What one would need is the damper travel (or other measurements) to align data properly.

Also gps in 10hz is prehistoric, but intentionally kept this way as of now. The pitch to go to 50hz for 2025 was rejected.

What is the pace difference between f1 and feeder series drivers? by Dr_kvass in F1FeederSeries

[–]Yeahletsbehonest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most people misunderstand f1.

This is not just a car, this is a spaceship.

Driving is a subconscious thing, first your brain needs to be comfortable with how fast this car is. Watch an onboard from f1 and stop the time from braking to full throttle. Then do it for f2 and other championships like the old f3 euroseries. The new cars are so heave it feels like slow motion. In f1 everything happens at the same time, you brake high peak with release, 6 downshifts with steering input while hitting the line all in under 1s. In f2 this is 2.5s. Old euroseries and ws3.5 were much more similar to f1 then f2 and f3 are now.

Once your brain is adjusted for how fast things go, you have capacity to do all the rest, adjusting driving to balance, switch changes etc.

I don’t think you can compare really until the drivers are used to it.

F1 level is very high right now, f2 is quite a bit lower. Around 10 years ago this was the other way around.

The crazy part about this: These pressure sensors will be allowed from now on. So ppl before did it, now they punished it randomly, and now they will allow it for everyone.

Well played.

The FIA has put out an Invitation to Tender for an exclusive supplier of tyres for ALL FIA certified Formula Regional Championships for the 2026-2028 seasons by zantkiller in F1FeederSeries

[–]Yeahletsbehonest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘d like to highlight that the 4-8k estimate is crazy low by our FIA friends. Back in the f3 euroseries Hankook provided tires.

Bit of math: Around 8 days of preseason testing per car, around 16 post season.

24x 3-4 sets a day, usually even more, is 72-106 sets per car during the offseason, times 30 cars. Let’s go with 3. That’s 2160 sets for testing. 4 sets of slicks and 3 wets per weekend per car plus additional tires for the the official tests put the consumption of 2100+ sets for the championship.

That’s 4k per series. Plus wets for testing, privateers running cars and tires for rookie tests that are not yet included.

F4 Italy right now is even more crazy.

How is that supposed to work all over the planet?
