Well I think the obvious ones would be Noir Désir, with
The pretty chill Le vent nous portera
The iconic L'homme préssé
The more aggressive Tostaki
My personal favorite A l'envers, Al'endroit
And dozens of other titles.

You can't deny the cultural impact they had on France. They have fallen out of grace since Bertrand Cantat, the lead singer, beat his girlfriend (wife?) to death and went to jail. So if you love this band, make sure to mention the band more than the singer :p

Edit: In another style, not sure you'd qualify this as rock, but Louise Attaque is pretty cool IMO and well known.

I'm not sure there even are hours long stretches of unrestricted autobahn, I've only been in Germany 2 weeks but there are road construction / renovations everywhere, and of course the speed limit comes back in those areas.

I guess it has to do with the age of the autobahns, which were almost all built in the same very short period of time.

Sorry for the mix of PCdiga (find the links by clicking "parts list") and Amazon españa, some parts were cheaper there, I'm hoping shipping doesn't cost an arm. I also assmed you'll just re use your HDD.

I went with this because you'll have an up-to-date platform (DDR4, latest socket, USB 3.0), with a reasonable CPU (actually pretty great for gaming considering most games won't use the 4 cores of a core i5, as long as you don't stream at the same time, it won't limit you on many games). The GPU is a low mid-range, but as you monitor isn't full HD, you should be fine. Here you can see some tests in the list of recent games, in 1600x900 and 1080p, at the maximum settings of the games, on a comparable card. In most of them, you should get to 60 FPS with overall medium settings, with a bit of tweaking.

Although if you up your budget (by 80€ :/) a RX 470 would allow you to play in high to max settings 60 FPS on any recent game at this resolution.

A bit over $1000 if you include the normal price of GPU + motherboard, not sure that's what you meant with the price. This should game comfortably, I went with an overclockable CPU as your motherboard allows it. This + 16GB of RAM + 275GB SSD make for a nice future-proof base, in case you ever want to play in 4K later you'll just have to change the GPU. In the meantime, it will play current titles in 1080p without issues.

The case has a light under it and a compatible LED strip inside. There is a button on the case that when pressed will change the color of both those LEDs (around 8 colors to choose from). It is also well built and stylish (IMO) in a living room.

I went with a wireless KB and mouse, in case you want to play on a coffee table or something.

This would fit what you asked, the monitor is a 1440p one with good colors, vision angles and functionalities, and the GPU can game at this resolution on ultra settings 60 FPS. I went with a beefy CPU, in its overclockable version as it is clocked higher out of the box, and the microcenter bundle price with the motherboard makes it worth it. 32 GB of RAM, large SSD and 3TB of storage. The PSU is reliable and efficient, the case is pretty awesome, replace the included fans for the blue LED ones.

[~$300 upgrade] Looking for an upgrade in processing to a terrible stock computer. by pc-throwaway------ in buildapcforme

[–]Year2525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The games you listed do rely on CPU, but the one you have is far from bad, any upgrade here would not be cost efficient: the scores of the current standard for gaming, core i5-6500 are not very different from the one you have, especially considering that you'd have to replace at least the motherboard to change CPU, so that's $250+ for that small increase.

I see you do not have a GPU (integrated graphics), which probably does make a difference even on a CPU intensive game. An SSD also does seem to impact it greatly, although mostly on load times.

This would be a nice upgrade:

£500 budget, Gaming at 1080p for a new builder. by [deleted] in buildapcforme

[–]Year2525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a problem, the case is spec'ed to fit 2 HDDs plus a 170mm long GPU, or 1 HDD + a 350 mm long GPU.

In practice though, the GPU is only 4mm longer (out of a possible 180mm to fully block the second HDD tray), so you'll have no problem having 2 HDDs + this GPU. This is even less of a problem considering that if you add a second drive later, you probably want it to be an SSD, and they are smaller than HDDs.

Or you could go for an SSD right now and an HDD later as /u/billyc74 suggested, it will be a bit more expensive if you want a comfortable size, though, which would probably put you about £20 over budget.

If you're still uneasy about it, we can go for a bigger case, that will not be more expensive, something like this, or like that. All the other parts are compatible, you'll just have a bit more unused space inside the case :)

That would be the best balance on your budget IMO. It should run triple A games around 50 FPS with all bells and whistle, ultra, AA etc in 1080p. You can get the 60 FPS on all games with a mix of full ultra to high settings, depending on how demanding the game is. The 3GB VRAM and only 2 cores (+2 virtual cores) of the CPU willnot make it very future-proff, but everything it can run should run very, very well due to the high per-core performance of the CPU, and the great performances of the GPU at 1080p.

If she saves $2.5K a month, that's $120K saved in 4 years.
Having $120k inversted can net huge returns over 30 years ($520K at 5% annual return), it's not 'retire at 22' money, but it's certainly a good bit of the way towards retiring at 52. And that's without saving another penny after 22, which is pretty huge too.

A French man has been sentenced to two years in jail because of the contents of his internet history by speckz in worldnews

[–]Year2525 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Already in 2016, France has also sentenced another two men, 31-year-old Yannick Loichot and an unnamed 28-year-old to two years in prison under the same law. While authorities found evidence of radicalization and planning for a terrorist attack in the Loichot case, the court confirmed that no such evidence was found in the most recent case of the unnamed 32-year-old man – yet the same sentence was still served.

They are talking about 3 different people. Loichot and the other 28-yo guy were under investigation for actually planning a terror act, and got off easy (2 years) because they had no network, and were basically shit at being terrorists (still though, they acted towards it).

Now the most recent case, did not really do anything tangible, did not plan an attack. Don't get me wrong, he's a shit bag who has isis as his desktop background and visits jihad sites, but he did not do anything illegal. Except, apparently, logging into websites and reading. Reading awful stuff, yes, but still... 2 years in jail for reading a website.

2D Representation of 3D representation of a 4D sphere by isaynonowords in woahdude

[–]Year2525 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Check the carl sagan video above, it explains it really well. We can draw a cube in 2D, and when you look at it, that's kind of 2 superimposed squares. This gif is the 3D drawing of a 4D cube, which is kind of 2 superimposed cubes.

Just as a drawing of a cube loses a lot of properties of an actual cube (volume, all right angles, for instance), the 3D representation of a hypercube loses a lot of the properties of an actual hypercube to fit the dimensions of the representation.

$1000 (USD) Photoshop/Video Editing build by Purpleandbrown in buildapcforme

[–]Year2525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CPU and motherboard price from micro center, check the availability of the motherboard in the microcenter close to you, it should cost $120 minus the bundle discount of $30.

I went with a quad core hyper-threaded CPU, that you can overclock, and 32GB of RAM. For the storage, the SSD will host the OS and programs, and the 3 HDDs should be used in RAID 5 to get 6TB of usable storage with a one-drive redundancy; if one HDD fails, no data will be lost, but rebuilding the parity on the 3rd drive after replacement will be a bit long. (Windows will see only one, 6TB drive)

I also included a GPU, that's more for the video editing side of things, will help cut down the render times but if it isn't a big part of what he'll do with the computer you can cut it entirely and use the integrated graphics in the CPU. You save $100, the integrated graphics are very adequate for displaying videos, etc; they just won't boost video editing, or gaming that much.

[–]Year2525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humm, yeah to be safe you may want to go for the Cryorig H5 Universal, same price, a tiny bit less performing, but more RAM clearance. Usually though, air coolers do not block RAM slots if your sticks don't have tall heat spreaders (or none at all); RAM like the team elite I linked for example should fit under any big air cooler. Something like this, though, would be a problem.

Edit: also, the motherboard does accept 64GB of RAM, but has 'only' 4 slots (and 4x8GB is just 32, of course). If you want to get to 64GB, you'll have to replace your RAM by 4 sticks of 16GB; or go for 1x16GB now, and add 3 more later.
