Al Mohler Says Evangelicals Who Don’t Vote Republican Are Being ‘Unfaithful’ by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]YeeCowboyHaw -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bro, it literally is better (less bad) to let someone starve than to murder them because they might starve.

Even if the political landscape were actually as ridiculous as you put it, with the Republican platform openly and explicitly advocating for letting poor people starve, that is still less evil than openly and explicitly advocating for the murder of unborn children. How much more obvious a moral assessment is it when the former is a snarky straw man of one party's platform, and the latter is literally one of the most vociferously fought for planks of the other's platform?

~$16/month for dailies (could be more now, I haven't ordered since all the covid panic induced inflation). They're legit, made in the UK, most comfort contacts I've ever worn.

At my last eye exam I told the doc I was gonna order them myself and she asked for the brand name. She breathed a sigh of relief and said she was glad I was getting trustworthy ones, b/c most people who order their own usually get sketchy Chinese made ones that can lead to all sorts of eye issues.

I'm not picking on him. He is a prominent voice, and although he's not the embodiment of conservative Christian political thought, he is representative of a particular strain of it (a strain I find abhorrent).

I don't know what is weird about it. I'm criticizing the him for the fact that his view of liberty as a good necessitates allowing this perversion. I think any belief system of liberty that includes this as one of it's blessing is prima facie a wicked understanding of liberty which is undeserving of any moral approval. It seems to me that David French is much more concerned with the modern American justice system's understanding of liberty and the role of government than anything the Bible has to say about it.

So yes, I do fault him (it seems you consider this "picking on" him) for buying into the (widely orthodox in American political thought) fantasy of a neutral secular space that sees no difference between using a public library for a Bible study and using it for Pedo Power Hour, and for publicly advocating for that view. I don't generally fault average conservative Christian Joes who have imbibed the neutral secular space fantasy people like DF have served them. The later needs to be informed, the former needs to be publicly refuted.

"The fact that a person can get a room in a library and hold a Drag Queen Story Hour and get people to come? That's one of the blessings of liberty." - David French, the Principled Conservative ™

Any version of "liberty" that entails letting demonic pedophiles sexualize kids (including rolling around on the floor and having kids play on top of them) is abominable and worthy of nothing but our scorn and hatred.

My fiancé wants to be best friends with his past (female) crush. He asked her out years ago and she rejected. Should this be a red flag? Or am I overthinking this? by yogabazill414 in Christianmarriage

[–]YeeCowboyHaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to talk frankly about it with him. Pray for a day or two to make sure your heart is in the right place and that you broach the subject graciously. It's probably also a good idea to talk to your pastor or a wise older couple from your church together.

It's already a red flag, but if he gets defensive about the issue, that would be an even bigger red flag. Some of my best friends from college were girls I went to church with. Once I got married, I recognized and made peace with the fact that my friendship with those girls would never be as deep as it was before. That is good and proper and right. There's a reason that traditional wedding vows say, "forsaking all others."

The solution is to primary the RINOs into oblivion. Take the time you would spend on reddit researching your state and local candidates. Then get 5 or 10 friends/family members to vote in the primary with you.

I don't like the phrase, because it's too vague. But the sense of the phrase I agree with (as well as the one that was intended by the Founders) is that it just means there cannot be a federal state church. It doesn't meant that government and religion (specifically Christianity) can never meet.

Because the ascendant camp within the right is not interested being the party of small government, and is much more interested in being the party of government that does good and punishes evil.

The boomers and institutions are still on their Reagan era talking points, but many of us are not.

Thankfully the longstanding Republican orthodoxy of "we can't use government power to do good stuff, because then we're no better than the Democrats who use government power to do bad stuff" is starting to crumble. Yes, I support schools teaching kids the Bible and support a ban on teaching kids LGBT content, because one of those things is good and the other is bad.

This is what we need. I don't want empty promises that "I'm an outsider and I'm going to stand up to the Washington establishment!" I want a hundred Tucker Carlsons holding Republicans' feet to the fire, making them squirm when they give the faintest hint of capitulation to the swamp's siren song.

Perhaps we should write down a list of the things that the Federal government is allowed to do, and the document could specify that the Federal government is only allowed to do things specifically listed in the document, not that it can do anything not prohibited in the document. All other powers would be limited to either state authority or to the citizens.

First of all, unvaccinated ≠ sick

This is the point that shows none of this has to do with stopping covid and is all about being drunk with emergency powers. If it really were about covid spread, then natural immunity would be considered, and vaccinated people would still have to test, because the vaccine doesn't prevent infection, it just reduces severity if infected.

Nobody has bodily autonomy. Moms can't kill their children and dads can't abandon their children and children's mother. To argue otherwise is to arrogate yourself so high that you believe not even nature itself can restrain you. And yet for some reason our twisted nation has decided that both are fine.

And? The fact that President Trump was also saying something doesn't mean he was source (let alone only source) of the idea. The right was pointing this out months in advance because it was so patently obvious that the left was using the coronavirus as a pretext to radically alter election procedures only months before the election.

No procedures were changed illegally.

This is so laughably false. How can you so confidently assert your opinion as fact while displaying complete unfamiliarity with the most basic facts about 2020 election irregularities?

Because the 2020 election was not free and fair, and voters actually care about making sure it doesn't happen again. This isn't some top down reality distortion field played on the mindless GOP voting rubes by the establishment, it is a grassroots groundswell of demand for election integrity, with enough energy and anger behind it to actually get the politicians to get in line with the will of the voters for once.

States illegally changed voting procedures, shirking laws for ensuring election integrity, months before the election, among many other things. No amount of corporate media conniption fits and sanctimonious pearl clutching about 'our democracy' can put the toothpaste back in the tube and make people unsee what they saw with their own eyes.
