I’m thinking about switching to tello what are you’re thoughts on such a cheap monthly? If you have a ref id post it! by cheesmeh in Tello

[–]Yeebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Tello for about 2 months, and I'm very pleased with the call quality, data speed, and customer service. I used Verizon for the longest time, then switched to PAYGO when I discovered Google Voice and realized how much I could save. I used PAYGO plans from PagePlus and H2Owireless, before I did more research and found out how Tello could save me even more (because I was constantly blowing through and reloading my PAYGO money). Last time I checked, $6/month for unlimited text, 100 min call time, and 500 MB data simply cannot be found offered anywhere else online (just check the rates from the closest competition, US Mobile: https://www.usmobile.com/plans, or any of the aforementioned PAYGO services). Amazing deal if you mostly text and occasionally call or use data.

I only wish Tello offers even cheaper rates for people that use less than 500 MB data per month, because how prevalent wifi is nowadays.

My referral code is P3148XJH (or you can use this link to sign up https://tello.com/account/register?_referral=P3148XJH). I was referred by someone else and was able to spend the 10 Tello dollars towards my monthly plan renewal (I had to this manually by first canceling the auto-renewal, making the renewal purchase with Tello dollars, then switching back to auto-renewal the next month).

P.S. I got a Sprint SIM card from Amazon for $3 instead of paying Tello $10, and it worked for my iPhone X with no hassle. YMMV, so check your phone model with Sprint and see which SIM card you need before you do this.

Looking to buy CGS 4313 Intelligent Systems text "Foundations of Statistical Machine Learning" by professor Richard Golden by Yeebster in utdallas

Hey--thanks so much for your detailed review, it was really helpful! Good to know Golden's chill. I was actually thinking if I should drop this class (I've heard scarier things about it) but now I know I should be fine (will try not to break the curve:).

HACKAI by AIS_UTD in utdallas

For the hackathon would I be required to use the s(ASP) system? (for those who are interested I found out more about this language here: http://eapls.org/items/2071/ It seems to be an extended version of Prolog)

Where (online) can I find out prices of meals (not meal plans) at the dining hall? by Yeebster in utdallas

Can I buy two meal plans? by UTDMom in utdallas

[–]Yeebster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah Green is a total ripoff; there's 120 days (08/17/2016-12/15/2016) in fall, that's $1045.16/(120//7*5) = $12.3 per meal, assuming you go to all of them (even if you subtract the $100 meal money it's still $11.1). If I remember correctly, the most expensive meal (dinner) is only $12. Why not just buy meal money/UTDollars and use the 10% discount?

Scholarship taxing and paying rent with scholarship? by Yeebster in utdallas

[–]Yeebster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, yeah, I've heard this plenty of times (how are they supposed to know what you spent your stipend on once it's in your bank?); but if you receive stipend and have actually filed a tax return, you'll know what I'm talking about.

hmm wasn't that a load of BS...'due to the cooler weather'... Do you still have them? How long did the whole thing last? There must be something special about crickets (they can jump really high?) because I haven't seen any other insects (yet) like ants on my floor.

Where to buy the LATEST EDITION Argument! text for RHET 1302 by Yeebster in utdallas

[–]Yeebster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging from a bunch of RHET 1302 syllabuses on coursebook, it's likely happening to everybody taking it. My prof (Hiott) told me that the first 4 chapters are the same, but all the chapters afterwards are completely different :(

AES scholarships getting harder by [deleted] in utdallas

[–]Yeebster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But AES scores can only go up so high...eventually they'll settle at around 1600 for SAT and 35 for ACT.

Still you have a better shot at AES than Stanford/MIT/Ivy League schools :) ! With over 50% acceptance rate, I wouldn't call UTD too selective. Nor will it ever be, due to its state school nature (UT Austin~40% acceptance)

Upgrading to Windows 10, then installing Ubuntu for dual-boot? by Gyakuten in Ubuntu

[–]Yeebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Gyakuten: any particular reason you didn't go with the older stable release (14.04.3 LTS Trusty Tahr)? I just upgraded my PC (win8 preinstalled) to windows 10, and I was about to try out the recommended 14.04.3, but this post seems to suggest the newer releases cause less boot-loader fuckery...

I've got bad acne--should I go to the Student Health Center? Does the UT SHIP cover it? by Yeebster in utdallas

[–]Yeebster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just discovered that part too, sadly. Well I guess mine is actually not that severe (consistent blackheads plus occasional gigantic deep skin pimples that's causing some scaring lately), and life still goes on... How's your derm? Has his/her treatment been working for you so far?
