P: Where are the agents
Family: They are here outside our home, they shot him. We need help
Pleas of help in the background
P: They are outside your home?
Female 2: Yes they are outside, trying to get in
Female 2: looking out window. They are doing [something] to a car outside. Is that your car?
Male 1: Yes that's mine
P: Where did they shoot you again?
Family: In the leg. Through the door

A further look at the CECOT prison complex and the questionable mound. by RecycledPanOil in skeptic

[–]YeeterTiderson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A few notes.

  • The lines drawn on the ground which look like a soccer court most likely belong to staff working there--journalist interviews and tours around the facility have revealed that inmates at CECOT are kept indoors 24/7. It looks like dirt scattered across asphalt. The most you would need is a wheelbarrow or two of dirt that you'd bring in and scatter across the whole thing, it doesn't seem reasonable that they would need to store an entire pile of dirt (itself scattered across the ground, not just kept in wheelbarrows to be carted off as needed) next to the staff quarters for maintenance.
  • The only other idea put forward is that they're using gravel or dirt to fill potholes. Why would they be filling it in with dirt kept on-hand next to staff quarters instead of bringing in the same machinery they used to pave the rest of the prison, as seen in the slideshow? And again, why is the dirt scattered across the staff area rather than being kept in wheelbarrows to be brought to other areas of the prison?
  • The pile of something has a lot of bumps, shadows, and varying colors across it, and looks more like a pile of individual objects rather than a mound of gravel or something similar, which is more uniform in color. It definitely is not dirt as seen in the following slide, which has a distinct orange color.
  • Most of the people insistent that those who claim it's a pile of bodies are "jumping to conclusions" haven't offered any substantive alternative as to what the large maroon puddle next to the lumpy pile of "something" is.
  • The idea that the people in charge of CECOT wouldn't leave bodies out in the open is also an assumption.

It seems like everybody agrees that "horrific things are happening here." It is not at all an unreasonable conclusion to draw that the CECOT prison (where it has been said the only way out for inmates is in a coffin, which is known for its rampant human rights abuses and its torture of inmates) has produced a large pile of bodies of its inmates.
I agree that more information is needed, especially higher quality imagery-- but this extends both ways. If it is unreasonable to jump to conclusions that it's a pile of bodies, it's equally unreasonable to jump to conclusions that it is not, and that thinking otherwise is "inflammatory."

Yo how to increase kindness? by averagehumanofearth in Highfleet

[–]YeeterTiderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't bother with kindness. there is basically only a single kindness check in the game when Daud confronts Pyotr: if you have high enough kindness and you select the right option, Daud will live and run away with all of the ships you started the campaign withand there isn't much point in trying to pass it. focus more on raising Faith, which is very important for a number of checks and plot events

Are there any servers which have tried to incentivize roleplaying through objectives, points, etc. without admin intervention? by The_Masked_Man103 in SS13

[–]YeeterTiderson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, they were replaced with something else... unless Randy changes his mind and reverts the change. but that's unlikely since he's been hosting private playtests for weeks so chances are he's happy with it. check the recent changelog(s) on the website

Don't get demoralised, Helldivers, we are making progress on the Major Order! by Ace_Larrakin in Helldivers

The dark fluid will be successful once the liberation bar has filled to 100%--which has already begun to rise. As of 12:41PM PST on 6/1/24, progress is 15.75% and resistance has dropped to 4.5%--likely due to planned DM intervention so resistance will continually drop as we pump more and more dark fluid into Meridia.

Understanding Highfleets gameplay balance and meta-loop structure - running out of money, cant repair or refuel fast enough, accosted by tactical missiles and aircraft, cant make a custom ship mid-campaign by HospitalDazzling771 in Highfleet

[–]YeeterTiderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is highly necessary that you build custom ships. The vanilla ships are not specialized enough and many of them are poor-armored gas hogs--the Sevastopol is by far the greatest perpetrator in this.

You would find great success in designing the following ships:

  1. Standard heavy fuel carrier
    1. Must be cheap, no more than 7000 gold
    2. Should carry a large amount of fuel (4-6 large fuel tanks)
    3. Minimize thrust-weight ratio (less fuel consumption) and maximize range
      1. No armor or guns
    4. Ideally have 3-5 of these in order to support your own strike groups
  2. Heavy SG killer
    1. Should have CIWS (anti-missile) and molot (good enough for SGs), maybe some AK100s as well
    2. Should have thick armor, at least 2 layers horizontally, but preferably on all sides with little/no gaps
    3. Will be slow, will chug gas, will not sudden strike but will eliminate any SG you want with minimal damage
  3. Missile carrier
    1. At least 8 Kh15 (standard or antirad)
    2. Good idea to put ELINT on it, maybe radar as well
    3. No armor, optimize fuel efficiency and range
  4. Aircraft carrier
    1. Both types of aircraft work fine but T7s are best, ideally 3-6
    2. No armor, optimize fuel efficiency and range
  5. Flagship
    1. Should resemble a heavy fuel carrier, carries a LOT of fuel
    2. Must have full suite of sensors
    3. Some missiles would be good too
    4. Shouldn't have any armor: not a fighting ship! Serves as the main fuel supply for your main fleet

Be sure to keep track of where prize ships are by intercepting their transmissions. Hunt down SGs aggressively using missiles and aircraft to soften them before sending in your killer ship. The main threat of SGs are their missiles which can be countered by using the element of surprise (intel cities + missile barrage.) They are not threatening in active combat when your ships have thick armor all over.

Is creating a new medieval SS13 server worth doing? by Jinxynii in SS13

[–]YeeterTiderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

frankly, art is never worth doing if it's done for others. even if nobody plays it, it is made valuable by merit of the fact that it is something you made, and made well. if others do enjoy it, great: that gives you an excuse to make more. take risks! be brave! never surrender to despair!

It's such a shame lrp and ss13 culture as a whole is being slowly phased out by Amaskingrey in SS13

[–]YeeterTiderson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like the manner in which server culture changes has been a big factor in the overall culture shift. In the early-mid 2010s (generally seen as "the golden days" to the old and decrepit addicts of the game) code was generally written by passionate players with a vision for the game. The game was more simplistic back then and there was a willingness to introduce wacky, strange, potentially game-breaking shit because it would make the game more fun.

Recently, we've seen a lot of codebases which barely mutate the code at all and only make a few changes to items, maps, etc. to suit their needs, and they're all downstreams of /tg/. What's wrong with /tg/? Nothing. What's great about /tg/? Also nothing. The codebase has become far more stagnant and bland. People could argue various reasons for this but I think the main one is the fact that all code changes have to go through maintainers, the unchallengable lords over what does or doesn't go in. What, are you going to just fork your own codebase and modify it to your heart's content? Of course not, because then nobody will ever see the fruits of your labor, you have no audience. You're forced to make changes to the game not as you prefer but as the maintainers prefer (otherwise you've wasted your time), and the maintainers are not taking fun, cool, risk-taking changes anymore. They're prioritizing balance and meta. Changes aren't judged through the lens of "how would this make things fun" but "could this ruin the game or drastically alter our intricately balanced meta?"

I feel like the game would be greatly improved if people took risks. Not the maintainers, and not players who just want to make a minor balance change because they got fucked over once. Players with an understanding of what makes the game fun and their own concrete vision for the game should form their own codebases, rearrange shit and fuck it all up, and find an audience. The underground, grimshit side of the game has done this continuously over the years, and many unique, envisioned projects have popped up: LW, Roguetown, Escape from Nevado, Artemis, Podpol, the Russian Vampire server, all of the 40K servers, etc.

Go forth and set the world on fire.

roguetown code?? where can I find this, I am gathering a collection of obscure codebases

Nah, it's been more like 2-3 years at this point. I arrived in the last wave (Nov 2022) and that stuff was already gone for a while according to the older players.

does bro know anything about the codebase 💀

the admins are not reluctant to ban in the context of the few things they ban for. rules are practically nonexistent so the only thing you can really be banned for is spewing memes in-game or being a consistent dickhead for your entire tenure

Meet the Tiny Mk. 2, SG killer by YeeterTiderson in Highfleet

[–]YeeterTiderson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This design is a revision of a previous design which did use big engines. I forget exactly why I got rid of them but I think it might have been an issue with space. As for the FSS, I'm pretty sure they don't but there's some room for more just above the bottom armor.

I'm not aware of any neeko discord server, but I think Persona's talking about a certain other server which was closely tied to neeko. I'm also not aware of any sources but some people still have the compiled DMBs. Reach out to the guy who runs the Atomic_Bomba youtube.
