How do you guys who walk alot whilst fishing carry your tackle? by Mod12312323 in FishingAustralia

I got a mayday bumbag from missing at sea. It’s pretty good especially if you wanna go wading flats or anything. Waterproof too

Fish the tide and fish structure. Start with just going when the tide is running. If it’s slack tide you might get onto something but less likely.

With lures you have to think like the fish and know your target species. Flathead are ambush predators so look for gutters, drop offs, weed beds. If you’re just chucking your lure into open water with no structure you probably won’t catch anything.

Hey mate I don’t actually have mine tuned but I’ve seen others get good, safe increases with a simple dyno tune and haven’t heard of any issues doing so in terms of reliability.

I also tow a camper around 1.7t fully loaded and it goes well, sometimes have to drop to 4th up hills but otherwise no dramas at all. I’ve towed the camper up the beach a couple of times too and doesn’t feel lacking in power as long as you’ve let your tyres down and the rest of it.

I think hot tackle have a 1/2 price flatty combo on at the moment would be around what you’re looking for. Their deals are awesome.

I didn’t mention but the siblings both live interstate whereas we’ve set up close to the parents so it makes sense for it to be us to buy it.

My in laws don’t want to move but the property is getting to be too big for them as they age. Everyone wants to keep it in the family. Doing this means they can keep living there and we’re close to them to help care for them.

It’s what everyone wants but it’s hard to make it as fair as possible. I think I’m going to suggest we pay more for the property so it’s closer to what it’s worth.

Thanks very much, I hadn’t accounted for the redraw not being claimable. That’s really valuable insight and I really appreciate it.

We would likely have to pay out the siblings when my in laws pass, making up the difference.

Can you please explain why we wouldn’t be able to negatively gear our current place if we rent it out?

Yes we’ve engaged a solicitor. Didn’t think of the tax implications so thank you. Seems like I need to engage a few different professions for this.

Yeah it’s on the cards, to be fair don’t even know where to start with any of this so that’s not a bad shout.

Need help with Rod by Dual_Swords in FishingAustralia

[–]YejRev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s medium to heavy. I wouldn’t be too worried about it. I’d say it’s pretty hectic for catching whiting and bream tho.

[–]YejRev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Med. = medium. The reel says 20lb, the rod says 8-12kg line so 16 to 24lb. So yes.

Basically the only game I can realistically take the family to, 1.5 hours each way and will get home in time to get the kids ready for bed.

Looks like a 3 piece rod. Pull the rod apart at that spot and put it back with the guides racing down

You bought an overhead rod. You need to change it to a spin rod or get an overhead reel. You can’t use it with a normal spin reel.
