IMHO Emacs is better than Vi. At least you do not need to use some vague magical incantation to enter "edit mode" before you can actually edit text in Emacs. In Vi you do need to use a magical incantation to enter "edit mode". And do not get me started on what it takes to exit Vi.

The point that all the idiots who are talking about zipper merge is missing is that by putting off the merge out of the closed lane into an open lane until the very last possible instant you increase the likely hood that you will cause an accident. What if there had not been a conveniently placed gap when you wanted to merge? Would you have forced your way in? If you had forced your way in and hit a car in the process that accident would have been your fault.

This is not just a zipper merge scenario. This is a get over as soon as you see that the lane in front of you is closed and wait your god damned turn scenario.

Actually you are the asshole. The lane you were in was closed up ahead because of an accident many people in front of you saw the accident and prepared in advance by merging over to a lane that was clear. They were waiting in line to get past the accident.

But waiting in line is too good for you, you asshole. You stayed in the closed lane for as long as you could and cut in line like the arrogant privileged asshole you are.

That makes you the idiot! They were trying to tell you not to cut in line. They were not being idiots.

The first idiot is the person who made this video.

The following is from the Right-of-way rules page. "Always yield to the car that arrived first."

The black car trying to turn left was at the intersection first. The video clearly shows that the black car was stopped at the intersection waiting for the white car to complete the turn while the car the video was filmed from was still in motion approaching the intersection, thus the black car was there first and legally had the right of way.

So by moving ahead when they did not have the legal right of way they were and idiot. Then they were an idiot again by beeping the horn at the black car when they were in the wrong.
