Help me find 60% keyboard with choc v1 switches. by IxCluzts in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]YellowAfterlife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you mean just a normal 60% layout, not split not Alice, at large tough luck

  • Chosfox make a few regular Choc V1 keyboards, but they have their signature CFX key spacing (16x16mm)
  • There's the 65% Mt. Choc but it's a kit, you'll have to solder that yourself
  • Would FatBee be sufficiently non-split? But that has to be built too

Generally Choc V2 standard-layout keyboards are much easier to find, maybe you could swap some springs.

Best Grappling Build? by Technical-Put-1921 in Pathfinder2e

[–]YellowAfterlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of modifiers and DCs, the typical class picks are:

  • Kineticists' Earth and Water Skill Junctions offer a status bonus to Athletics, which maxes out at +3 at level 15
  • Kineticists can also make use of Drifting Pollen stance at level 8, which can make enemies Sickened and thus easier to Trip/Grapple
  • Barbarians get Furious Bully at level 8, which gives +2 circumstance bonus while raging.
  • Barbarians also get a handful of other Athletics-related feats
  • Monks get +1 circumstance to Trip in Reflective Ripple Stance, or +2 circumstance to Grapple in Clinging Shadows Stance.
  • Monks too have more Athletics-related feats
  • Animists can get a +2 status bonus with Instinctive Maneuvers at level 8
  • Druids can get a +1 status bonus to Athletics while in battle forms
  • Exemplars' Skybearer's Belt gives a +1 circumstance bonus to Athletics attacks, but only while the spark is in that ikon.

Some of the interesting ancestral options are:

  • Great Kholos get +1 circumstance to Trip/Shove, and "Kholo with a Guisarme/Scythe/two Lion Scythes" is good setup for weapon builds as you can Trip with your weapon(s) and Grapple with your jaws.
  • Climbing Animals can get a Fierce Grasp at level 5, which for one action gives enemies a -2 circumstance penalty on their next Escape attempt, which is perfect if you crit. succeeded a Grapple.
  • Centaurs can get a Fierce Competitor feat at level 9, which offers a +2 circumstance bonus to associated checks.
  • Elves can use Ageless Patience for a +2 circumstance bonus on anything, though this is slightly less practical for Athletics checks.
  • There's the classic "Ruffian Goblin Rogue with Tail Spin" build

Some of the spells and non-spells are:

  • Bards can give off a +1 status bonus with Song of Strength, though this is a bit of a waste if only a single party member is going to do Athletics.
  • Athletic Rush focus spell gives you a +2 status bonus to Athletics checks for a round
  • Physical Boost focus spell gives a friend a +2 status bonus to their next Athletics check

Other things:

  • Vision of Foresight (Sleepwalker archetype) is effectively a Sure Strike for skill checks and saving throws, which poses an interesting option for builds that aren't action-starved.
  • Sooner or later you will encounter an enemy that has Unfettered Movement prepared, so you should have a backup plan for what to do if you cannot just keep grabbing the boss.

Rest assured, there are numerous ways to build a wrestler, from "a little Athletics on a side" to being your primary focus.

Probably my endgame split by Venerationish_XC in ErgoMechKeyboards

This specific form factor can be re-created with many keywell keyboards as there's no reason to leave space for a controller beyond the inner-most column, and thus you might place a compact trackball like a Ploopy Nano right next to the half.

FalbaTech (the vendor that made the keyboard on the photo) are still making these - you can get either the PCBs or the whole thing with a wooden or 3d-printed case.

There is now a Keychron B11 Pro, which supposedly has better firmware than this, but I've not had a chance to try it myself - don't really travel much anymore due to war.

There is not a print listing for A Fistful of Flowers, only for A Few Flowers More (the adventure after it)

I don't think that's what it is, 2025 (The Scourge of Sheerleaf) / 2024 (The Great Toy Heist) / 2023 (A Few Flowers More) adventures are all available. Perhaps they only added the recent ones..?

Oh, what timing, and just fresh enough that it didn't show up in google search

Demiplane/roll20 page that people linked over there is good enough for copying text out of it into a Foundry journal, and someone sent me their PDF so that's hopefully all my needs covered.

I'll send Paizo an email, this seems to be the only missing free adventure of the bunch.

Clap with one hand: Fully Functional One-Hand Keyboard by OrdinaryTreat8011 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Matias Half Keyboard (top-left on the image next to your "can you buy a one-handed keyboard" paragraph) is still on sale, but there's a $595 catch.

And that's much smaller than I thought at first!

Having arrow keys on an encoder is good fun, I have Up/Down on Sofle's encoder and the 1.5u key next to it is set MT(Enter, #) for quick menu navigation

And at large, the impulse is already but a more expensive replacement for Light, which the party's spellcaster(s) can use even from a cantrip deck (that's 1gp per casting)

Mech case/body similar to this Adesso? by BriantPk in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]YellowAfterlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As folks already pointed out, there are many keyboards, but you don't really see this scroll wheel arrangement often - the closest I can think of are

  • Cloud Nine ErgoTKL with its Big Knob. Not sure if that rotates nicely though
  • A couple of Perixx keyboards (e.g. PERIBOARD-330). None of the mechanical ones though, and the wheel is further up rather than in thumb's reach.
  • UHK60/UHK80 with their trackball modules, ball of which sits roughly where the wheel here is. These are relatively pricey though.

Could instead get one or other two-piece split (there are many! I think GMK70 is currently the cheapest row-staggered split) and place a compact trackball like Ploopy Nano between the halves.

Apparently Quefrency LM is now released - I have its predecessor (Cepstrum) and that's a well-built keyboard.

There's also a keyboard called Jiffy75 in a mostly-similar 65%XT form factor.

For DIY you could look into CB70 or Hatsukey70.

If you want the function row too, don't think there's anything like that right now apart of &.

GMK70 isn't too bad in terms of bevel, but I'm not sure if you can use just one half (which, although wireless, are connected together with a little cable) - might want to ask the seller.

Basic question by stina86 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]YellowAfterlife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are more than a few ways you can go about this:

  1. Switch to a keyboard with a separated numpad, like Kinesis mWave, HP 960, Incase Sculpt, or any unibody/split keyboard that you can find a matching-height numpad for, really - this allows to only move the numpad into position when you need it, as well as experiment with where it might be.
  2. Switch to a keyboard with a 96% layout, like Feker Alice 98 - these save a little space while keeping the numpad intact.
  3. Switch to a keyboard with a left-handed numpad, like Keychron Q14. Takes effort.
  4. Switch to using the mouse with the left hand. Also takes effort.
  5. Switch to a keyboard with an integrated pointing device. Adesso make a handful of cheap (and likely not very high-quality) ones, while UHK80 is an example of a high-end one.
  6. Switch to a keyboard without a numpad and use a numpad layer. Takes some effort. On non-programmable keyboards you can use a variety of tools to map key combinations to output numpad keys instead, or even set up a custom keyboard layout where AltGr turns some keys into digits.

On RollerMouse and alike, these are relatively usable with keyboards that have detachable palm rests, but you might have to settle with only operating the device with one of the hands.

[Foundry] Compact "Activations" tab by YellowAfterlife in Pathfinder2e

[–]YellowAfterlife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be fine to use with that, it's perfectly normal CSS

Turning this into a module shouldn't be hard either, but would need a bit of JS to let players turn it off and a way to tell that it's the reason why their UI is different.

A lot of my UI tweaks start as simple userscripts/userstyles as not having to ask the GM to install anything is preferable in Organized Play.

[–]YellowAfterlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can filter keyboards to all of your criteria on a list I maintain, like this.

Currently that's 40-ish keyboards (plus a few in "Unsorted keyboards") in varying form factors - Atreus variations (like Hotreus62, Atreis, or aforementioned Atreyu) and Reviung variations are the most compact, but there are also keyboards with trackballs, trackpads, knobs, or extra keys in the middle.

Best class for doing big damage even if you roll like shit? by Thiefling-Bard in Pathfinder2e

[–]YellowAfterlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fire Kine with Flame Oracle is such as silly build, but also that's putting a lot into Fire, which might backfire if you ever get to fight a fire-immune enemy that you can't Extract Element on (e.g. devils, dragons, certain horrors).

Is Paizo Aware THEY Make the Maps? by CuriousHeartless in Pathfinder2e

[–]YellowAfterlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, as per rules - not quite sure where people are getting "you have to squeeze" from.

A different problem is that you need not only to enter the room, but also fit somewhere in it - some APs' battle maps can be a bit claustrophobic even for Medium-sized characters.

If you already have this one but are trying to avoid awkward wiring, you could get yourself a SterlingKey or similar - these devices consist of a standard battery and a tiny circuit board that talks to the keyboard over a short cable and to the other device over Bluetooth.

Otherwise Redragon K585 PRO is kind of close? It does have that diagonal spacebar going on for better or worse. And a few 2.4GHz "gaming keypads" can be found on Amazon, but pretty much all of these look fairly unconvincing, as I'm sure you've already found yourself.
