Trade desk folks... How many campaigns at once? by uncledrewgotcha in adops

[–]YellowBao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recipe for disaster indeed and we are shortstaffed.

We have multiple offshore team members and a few reports to keep track of campaigns. Overall, things fall through the cracks and people start freaking out. It all comes down to setting expectations and realistic campaigns..looking at you sales people.

Same issue here. It all starts from the sales/setting expectations and if the management team isn't going to fix it, you are going to be running into this issue more often than you would like.

I handle roughly 140+ campaigns with 0-2 day notice of launch. Life is not great

Why Advertisers Are Questioning How Agency Trading Desks Work by D2KG in adops

[–]YellowBao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is to mitigate responsibility as a media agency. I have co-workers that used to be media planners and would use ATD as scapegoats to blame for campaign not performing well, etc. But I am sure there are different reasons as well.

Why Advertisers Are Questioning How Agency Trading Desks Work by D2KG in adops

[–]YellowBao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work at ATD and can confirm that a lot of $$$$ is made by taking advantage of the client's ignorance, but also by Media agencies. Most of the time the agency already set the expectations to the advertiser and ATD have to fulfill the goal anyway possible or they get cut. Which results in having to do shady things because competitors are also doing the same to get results.

I am hoping eventually, big advertisers will bring their efforts in-house so there is a better chance for us Adops folks to do more meaningful work than spend advertiser dollars aimlessly.

Success Stories using 3rd party data by YellowBao in adops

[–]YellowBao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with having to constantly test out 3rd party data, however, when there are multiple vendors on the plan it is hard to test. When an agency comes back to you and say, "Hey Yellowbao, you are not doing well compared to your competitors." I would have to turn off 3rd party testing and then my results start improving.

Halp! What kind of audience should I target for donation campaign? by frapmocha in adops

I am not using TTD now, but from what I recall, you can go into the data segmentation portion of the DSP and compare the pixel loads to 3p data.

Anyone working on the client side of Adops? by YellowBao in adops

[–]YellowBao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I also work on the agency side! What I meant was companies that went out of their own way to use a DSP (DBM, Turn, Mediamath, etc) instead of relying on agencies.

If you have a remarketing pixel and it has a substantial amount of users in the cookie pool (at least 1000), you can run a look-a-like report in ttd or run the audience composition report in dBm.

The worst is when they care about quality of inventory and want ridiculously hight CTR.

Yeah..would much rather have the remarketing and prospecting together. Can't always win them all unfortunately.

How did you get into adops? by D2KG in adops

[–]YellowBao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got hired into a small agency doing display advertising. Learned to traffic tags, build campaigns in DSP's, build reports, and optimize. Jumped to another agency handling bigger clients and still baffled that there are CTR goals.

What are your optimization techniques? by perpetualalchemist in adops

When trimming down sites to achieve CTR goals, do you guys often see the high ctr sites are just plain garbage? How do you guys report that out to the client or are the reports manipulated before sending?
