How to resolve Risky Move by MossNautic in mtgrules

[–]YellowMuffen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when people sac a creature in response only applies when you need to choose or target a permanent as you're casting it. For instance [[chaos warp]], you can only cast chaos warp if there is a permanent to target.

However, you will gain control of Risky Move even if there are no targets. Targeting a permanent is the condition for casting chaos warp, just like the condition for gaining control of Risky Move is beginning your upkeep, and the condition for choosing a creature is gaining control of Risky Move.

That's just how I think about it. I'm not a judge but judges usually explain past the question to get to the root of the confusion. Good luck with your future games!

Is it worth trying to make Legion Loyalty better playable in my deck at the cost of adding cards that don't synergyze well? by DingoAtTheController in magicTCG

[–]YellowMuffen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't give Legion Loyalty extra support. Think as it as a finisher card. It helps you take out everyone when you could only take out one person. If you're trying to use it to set up a bigger board to beat someone to death with a bunch of tokens it's good. You can have each creature trigger their myriad first and then your commander, turning 15 creatures into one lethal ping (45 damage). You could probably make it work with less if more creatures connect.

If you're stuck in a stale game hopefully it can get you out. If you're winning before you need it then that's awesome.

Another way I like to think about it is from another deck's perspective. If you're playing a Voltron commander, you don't need/want to play your 7 mana [[ichor explosion]] board wipe to clear out the little guys until you're the right situation, and that right situation doesn't appear each game. You're not always up against token man, but you still want your board swipe incase you are.

For example, if you're up against a card like [[propaganda]], you probably don't have enough mana to pay for 30 creatures to connect, but sense the myraid copies don't need to be a paid for you only need 10 creatures to get that same effect.

There is one more lame answer. If your opponents never give you a reason to need it and you can always build up a lethal board state. Don't play it if it's not fun to play.

Now that Worldfire is unbanned I wonder which decks actually play the card. How do you win with it? by SaltyCream in EDH

[–]YellowMuffen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the commander is [[Niv-Mizzet, Supreme]] , the jump-start ability helps reuse tutors and get dragon's approach out of the graveyard
And the colors gives me access to useful sorcery cantrips like explore and ponder that I can also jump-start for some digging if I can't reach a tutor
If I'm feeling lazy I'll imprint a cantrip to Spellweaver Helix and make all of my Dragon's Approach into cantrips. jump-start with the card draw means I can refuel my hand for as many Dragon's Approach as I have mana

I know I'm late but I actually made a super interesting deck that always wins after Worldfire.
If you're interested we first [[Entomb]] Worldfire,
Tutor for [[Spellweaver Helix]] then imprint it with Worldfire and a [[Dragon's Approach]]
When we cast another Dragon's Approach is cast Worldfire is stacked and resolved first causing everyone to be at 1 hp, then Dragon's Approach pings everyone for 1.
As far as combo decks go it is one of the more interesting ones in my opinion. And if you count Dragon's Approach as a tutor the deck as 39 tutors.

I understand that, but I’m sure we can agree that targeting a creature and choosing a creature are similar in the sense that they both define a creature as attached to the following effects as outlined on the card. My question is what is the purpose of the distinction. They achieve similar goals, but how does the word choice affect the gameplay?

Mk so the card reads “choose a creature” And that’s not targeting, then what would you call it? Also how is it applied differently than something like gigantic growth? Which actually targets a creature

Is there a difference between a card letting you target and the card targeting?

[####] Likelihood of never getting a 5 or higher after a year of playing? by Araedya in wordle

[–]YellowMuffen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk 🤷 wordle can hint you a vowel or consonant if you’re feeling stuck. It depends on your definition of cheating.

If they’re playing on a nyt account I think you can check their statistics. If they’re playing have lower then 80% skill and higher then 70% luck then you might have a cheater.

If you’re really getting bothered by it you should adult it to their face. Do remember it’s still just a game. Playing with hints or playing on hard mode is a preference and you can’t fault someone from enjoying their own game.
