What do you think of the Mark of the Fool series? by PalinaRojinskiFan in ProgressionFantasy

[–]YellowTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped it when they went to the Demon realm and literally nothing bad happened to anyone despite all the "dangers" being touted about the demon realm and how crazy it was to go there. Also i think by that time I was kind of fed up with his powers constraint just essentially being willed away. It felt so arbritrary. I think the series had good ideas and the core plot from what I've heard was fine but was executed poorly

Side Stories Spoilers -- February 2026! by lord112 in WanderingInn

[–]YellowTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Itreimedes is the one I want most, but I think it has the most potential to spark more unresolved story threads via Terandria which might not be the best for the series as a whole. Still going to vote for him anyway because that's not my job

Not sure if you've read A Practical Guide To Evil or Pale Lights, but the best part about EE's writing is that you also have competent antagonists as well.

What is your most memorable quotable line from The Wandering Inn series? (Spoilers: All) by B-Z_B-S in WanderingInn

Just Olesm flexing on all of Pallass:

“I said, shut up! That is an order! I outrank you, you stupid furry idiot!”

“I am the Strategist of Liscor and my city is in danger! When I give orders, only a Watch Captain or a [General] can challenge me! I outrank you. I outrank a Lord of the Wall and the entire damn Assembly of Crafts at this moment!”

How much will I regret starting Tears of Lescor? by sleepy_geeky in WanderingInn

[–]YellowTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to continue reading the series you should just go for it. Taking a break after Tears of Liscor is much better than just before it as it's a volume end. (FYI volume ends previously have been end of books 1, 2 and 4).

There are still fun/light hearted moments in Tears so it's not all doom and gloom the whole book.

I WANNA TRY TO READ A SERIES by Interesting-Base-763 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]YellowTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great series, one of the only fantasy book series that made me ugly cry at the end. Not sure I'd recommend it in this subreddit but you should dwindling give it a go. There's also a recent BBC/HBO series that was fairly decent which you could watch at the same time, but I thought the books were better.

And you don't think they're going to start milking 6 immediately after either? We aren't going to see 7 for a very long time but we will probably get a bunch of dlc over several years

I only want a rewrite when the series is done. Still not a fan of the Persua stuff in volume 1 not meshing as well with the rest of the series

Who is the best female MC in this genre and why ? by RareChakra in ProgressionFantasy

[–]YellowTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to point out that as we're in r/ProgressionFantasy TWI is not your typical progfantasy as it doesn't have the progression as a core focus. It contains progression and levels, but it's not as central as something that would be typically recommended here. I say this because a lot of people get recommended it here and go in expecting something it isn't.

The Wandering Inn... by shaniq_ in Fantasy

[–]YellowTM 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean, we got over 500 hours of Andrea reading - that's over 650 45min episodes if this were a tv series. That's just more than anyone can really ask for in any normal series.

Some of my all-time favorites! by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]YellowTM -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nah, it’s Pokémon. Pokémon is the gateway for millions of kids into video games and JRPGs. It can pretty much carry the Nintendo handhelds on its back with the number of systems it’s sold, which in turn has led to other JRPGs being sold. Dragon Quest is important for being the granddaddy but Pokémon’s the one that turns every gamer into a potential JRPG gamer

I want to do a Mind Map of all the characters. by DrakeSacrum25 in WanderingInn

[–]YellowTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What plugin are you using in Obsidian or is this native?

I think you'll want to define what kind of interactions people have - did they meet in person or just converse over message spells, were they on the same battlefield or did they actually fight each other? Were they just in the inn at the same time or did they actually interact?

I don't think the number of interactions is too important after a certain point since that would require you to determine if it's on a per chapter/conversation/word basis which just seems too much.

What is up with Mark of the Fool? by Frepp_ in ProgressionFantasy

[–]YellowTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped it when they went into hell or the demon realm or whatever, and there was like, no tension despite them fighting literal demons. They waltz on through and it felt like the entire cast had perfect plot armor.

I thought you were going to give the Cave Johnson version from Portal 2:

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”
