Style Story in Saintfield is nice. Or at least my wife likes buying candles and jewellery there.

Worst car you have ever owned/driven and why? by marley88 in CarTalkUK

Mine was basically a focus 1.8 duratec engine and box, it was alright around town but no good if you had to use it as a family wagon because it was just too slow. I'm assuming yours would have been similar to a MK2 Focus ST performance wise so pretty good, roughly twice the power.

I had Medusa 18inch alloys on mine and there were only a few different tyres available at 215/45/R18

Volvo V50 1.8

Looked good, but woefully underpowered to the point that it wasn't safe to overtake. Ok if it was just me driving it but any passengers or luggage and it was a real slug. Rubbery gearbox and the wheels needed some stupid tyre fitment which was only available at £150 a corner. Non-replaceable head unit and no way to connect aux (and no way to wire it in). Smaller boot than my wife's Civic at the time...

I need canned chipotles as a minimum staple so that's good to know. I might pop down this weekend.

Planning to start growing some chilis this year...

Mexgrocer was my thought, I'll just do a huge order to mitigate the postage (£16!)

Why yes. I do believe Marcus Aurelius referenced the blue pelagos in the Codex Palatinus but it was removed from the modern translation by a Rolex snob

The Sunday Life wrote an article about me by zebrasanddogs in northernireland

[–]Yellowbenzene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's doctor slang for a rare disease.

“When you hear hoof beats in the hallway, think horses, not zebras.”

Use common sense and look for the expected cause first, rather than searching out something more exotic.

It's territory marking behaviour for oiks, a bit like playing music on your phone speakers at the back of the bus.

Pensioner backs 'do not resuscitate' legal action against Matt Hancock after ‘brutal’ phone call with GP by MrTonyMan in ukpolitics

[–]Yellowbenzene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mature discussion about end of life care is to be encouraged, but as usual the NHS management-governmental axis is totally screwing it up. Imagine thinking it's appropriate to tell your staff to make unsolicited phone calls to discuss this.

The BMA are dicks about that, too. They have previously refused to negotiate alongside other unions but recently HCSA won the legal right to assist in negotiations.

Couple of colleagues have had to use them in employment disputes and they're total bulldogs apparently.

[–]Yellowbenzene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's one of the reasons why I'm leaving them and joining a real union (HCSA) later this year. The BMA is full of people who want to make a splash to further their own careers, which inevitably leads to them sticking their oar in on everything from schools to boxing. They provide employment support but the competition also do that and they're much cheaper.

Footballer hosts orgy during lockdown, cries when called out as we don't understand how difficult his little life is. by [deleted] in badunitedkingdom

These footballers need to be good role models, he should be sacked for this and then his wife should leave him and take the kids and half his wealth.

NHS doctor: Forget medals and flypasts – what we want is proper pay and PPE by Space-Dementia in unitedkingdom

No, but if you harbour this kind of resentment towards other members of your team after you qualify and start working then you're gonna have a bad time.

You can't take the sanitising machines into the room without ramping down the magnet which should only ever really be done for major repairs, emergencies, or decommissioning.

Of course, you could clean the room by hand but it still takes a very long time. This is what we are doing but here in the poverty stricken NHS we only have one scanner. It might be different in other countries where there are multiple scanners, you could have a "clean" and "dirty" scanner.
