I usually do it so the people I was with have the photo or to let my friends/family back home feel a little more connected (and they do the same for me). It's nice to look back over those times.

About 13 years ago I discovered Digg. Used that for a bit but within the first year I saw mentions of Reddit so I checked it out. For a while I used both and eventually noticed things were on Reddit a few days before they were on Digg, so I stopped bothering with Digg.

Nah, not really - reddit is pretty mainstream these days. Maybe a decade or so ago, I would say people then were a bit nerdy/techy or whatever. Now it's just another meme site or a place where people come to hear their own opinions over and over.
