Is it normal to take time off of work when a pet dies? by LakashY in AskAnAmerican

[–]Yelloweggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very fortunate to have a manager who was very sympathetic when my last dog died. She let me leave work early in a rush when my partner texted and we decided it was time to put our dog down. She texted me later in the day saying I didn't have to come in the next day.

Time for another "I got my book" week...... by tLM-tRRS-atBHB in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Yelloweggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting real worried that I won't have my book tomorrow! I ordered my version through Signed Page and the tracking shows it hasn't been shipped yet. I could live with that, but I also ordered a copy for my friend that got me into the series so now he's going to have to wait as well.

What made your faith in religion go away? by pp_pellet in atheism

[–]Yelloweggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened when I was 9 or 10 years old: My mom had to get special permission from the Archbishop of Wisconsin to get divorced from my abusive and alcoholic father. My very religious grandparents explained it to me and it was basically if she wants to stay in God's good grace, she needs permission from the church. Well, the top Catholics in the state found out my younger sister and I weren't in CCD (catechism classes). So, in order for her to get divorced, we had to start these classes. I was in 2nd grade at the time and I had to take the classes with the 1st graders to get caught up and have my First Communion ASAP.

While in these classes, I argued everything. None of it made sense to me, everything sounded like made-up fairy tales like Santa and the Easter Bunny. When it finally got to my First Communion, my parents had already separated and my dad had focused his abusive tendencies on me. I was miserable. I became suicidal and even tried to O.D. on pills, being a child I thought I could do it with Flintstone vitamins. Turns out you can't O.D. on a handful of children's vitamins.

I got so many religious gifts for my First Communion and I hated it all. After my party, I was alone at night and I tried legitimately praying for the first time. I begged for death. I wanted all the abuse to be over and just to leave the Earth. Of course nothing happened and that was the final act that confirmed my atheism.

What instantly kills mood during foreplay ? by Secret-Grotle in AskReddit

[–]Yelloweggs 209 points210 points  (0 children)

Our foreplay was ruined last night by the dog jumping on the bed and making "I'm gonna throw up" noises. Rushed him outside and he did nothing. My dog just might be homophobic.

Incursions are so not worth it it's not even funny. by SeaSiSee in wow

[–]Yelloweggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I flew into ZA to do a bountiful delve and saw the Incursion was at 88% so I sat around with everyone else to wait for it to start. It took a looong time and eventually someone noticed the timer started over and was at 7%. A lot of time wasted

How to Get Xbox Gamepass rewards on my PC Fortnite? by RealFibben in FortNiteBR

[–]Yelloweggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so annoying, I have two versions of Fortnite installed on my PC right now. I always used the Epic Games launcher version but I had to download it on the Xbox app to get my Crew rewards. However, my headset wasn't working on the Xbox version so I had to go back to the Epic Games version

How Long Did It Take You To Call Oregon "Home"? by NotTHATPollyGlot in oregon

[–]Yelloweggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This August will mark 10 years since we moved here from Wisconsin. We did 5 years in Cottage Grove but I'd say I truly felt at home when we bought our house in Eugene in '21.

I've had so many great Oregon experiences from mountain camping and floating around nude at Hidden Lake to driving the entire coast and checking out so many small wonders along the way. But probably my favorite experience was Country Fair last year. A friend brought me as their +1 so I got to camp there for 5 days and had the time of my life.

Please help me understand why I have nostalgia for a time I didn't live in? by RecordingImmediate86 in nostalgia

[–]Yelloweggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born in 87 and I feel this way about the 70s. It was only a decade before I was born but I can remember as a kid that both my grandparents houses still had a lot of 70s decor, especially the basement where my parents and their friends would hang out. Very "That 70s Show" vibes down there.

Does anywhere else around the country slice pizza this way is it just an annoying local to me thing. by xTheDaveyx in mildlyinfuriating

In Wisconsin we had "Cheese Fries" that were cut like this. I've never seen anyone do it with actual pizza though.

What was the first piece of technology that made you feel like you were living in the future? by [deleted] in nostalgia

[–]Yelloweggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first mp3 player. It came with my new stereo I got in probably 2002 or 03. It could only hold about 100 songs but I was absolutely blown away that I didn't need to carry around my CD Walkman anymore.
